BLTTYMcCALL 887,6677 The congregational meet- ing of Duffs United Church was held on Sunday following the noon luncheon and the morning's service. Mrs. Marilyn McDon- ald, the new treasurer, was voted as secretary. Mrs. Annie Reid was nom- inated as recording steward with Rev. Swan still chairman to the Unified Board. Bruce Clark remains as chairman of the session. Harvey Craig was nominated as chairman of the Stewards. John Tha- mer replaces Howard Hack - well. Brian Wilbee takes over for Herb Traviss. Doreen Hackwell replaces Jean Bew- ley on the Manse committee. Mrs. Margery Ritchie was voted as alternate represent- ative to Presbytery. Rev. Swan exoressed h' thanks to all for their help There were all good reports of each organization. Audit- ors elected for 1983-83 were Allan Searle and Margaret Craig: Mr. and Mrs. Campbell Wey were greeters at the Sunday Worship. Mrs. Mar- gery Huether was organist. The Rev. Charles A. Swan spoke to the children°on "The Spirit of Failure". The sermon was "Appar- ent Failure" offering was received by Howard Hack. , well. Campbell Wey and Rick McDonald. The flowers in the 'sanc- tuary were in memory of Mr. William James Bennett Next Sunday worship at 10:30 a.m. Sunday Behoof at the same time. Confirmation class is called for 9:00 a.m. Also Sacrament of Baptism and dedication of hymn book and Bibles will take place during morning worship. 4-H STARTS AGAIN Mrs. Dorothy Sholdice and Mrs. Pat Nolan attended training school in Clinton recently. They are leaders for the 4-H springy project "On- tario Heritage ' for Walton 1 club. Any girl who is 12 by the 1st of March is welcome to Jake this project and asked to get in 'touch with either one of these ladies. Meetings will start next week. Nancy Schade and Lynn Dodds are leaders for Walton 2 in McKillop. Mr. Emerson Mitchell re- turned to Stratford Hospital on Sunday where he will have further treatment for them from Brazil week. It highlighted 1907 when Easterners went west, 1930 when western ,Canada was destitute from drought and 1960 when grain was plenti- ful. urch On Monday January 17 Mr. Lobb and Mr. Macdonald from the Gideon Bible Society handed out Bibles to students of the grade five class' at Hullett Central School. The Bibles contained the New Testament and two books from the Old Testament. The two gentlemen hope the pu- pils will use the Bibles wisely. Reporter: Mike Radford SCIENCE FAIR On Monday, January 17, Mr. Harrison addressed the grade seven and eight classes on the science fair. Both grades take part in the fair and if exhibits are good enough go on to the regional fair.. Mr. Harrison gave many ideas on subjects for the projects. He helped greatly and gave students a good start. Reporter: Lori Bromley ASSEMBLY On January 21, Mr. Stan Crookall came to Hullett Central. An afternoon as- sembly was held and he showed religious paintings he had done. Everyone enjoyed 'them thoroughly.
