Conservation
areas offer
ski opportunities
Winter weather has arrived much to the
delight of cross-country skiing enthusiasts.
If you are a skier looking for new territory
to explore why not check into the oppor-
tunites at local conservation areas.
The Maitland Valley Conservation
Authority operates a number of Conserva-
tion Areas that can be used for cross-
country skiing including Falls Rerserve,
Wawanosh Valley, Galbraith and Naftel's
Creek.
The Wawanosh Valley Conservation Area
has several kilometres of hiking trails that
double as ski trails in the winter. This 409
acre property has open fields, and hard-
wood and hemlock forest to explore by ski
or showshoe. Trails also run along the
scenic Maitland River. Although the trails
are not , groomed, admission is free
throughout the year! Wawanosh Valley, is
located on Concession 6-7, Nature Centre
Road, in East Wawanosh Township are
available for skiing. Trails are not groom-
ed. Admission is free during the winter.
Galbraith is located on the Elma/Morn-
ington Township line, south of Highway 86,
east of Listowel.
