The final meeting of the Presbyterian
Church Women for the year was held on
Monday, December 11, with an excellent
number of ladies in attendance. President
Cathy Bell opened the meeting with the
usual proceedings and thanked the.
members for their assistance at the ban-
quets they had catered to.
Dorothy Taylor was in charge of the
devotional in which six members took
part and Edith Bell and Carolyn Love ac-
companied the singing on the two organs.
It was most interesting and
thought-provoking.
The business for the present and com-
ing year was discussed and many plans
were made for the future. Following this
segment, Deb Lawrence and Carolyn
Love sang "Star of the East" accom-
panied on the new organ by Dorothy
Taylor.
A Pot Luck supper was enjoyed by all
the members and when this was over the
ladies packed gifts for the shut-ins of the
church. It is hoped these small remem-
brances will bring cheer to the several
people and that all will have a healthy
and happy holiday season.

CARMEL PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH
This is the third Sunday of Advent. The
organ prelude was played by Carolyn
Love and Dorothy Taylor, the two in-
struments filled the church with .their
Christmas music. Following the call to
worship by Rev. Mark the Sanctus and
Prayer of Adoration was said. Hymns of
confessions and joy were sung by all and
Rev. Mark lit the Third Candle, which is
the Candle of Joy.
Carolyn Love and Debbie Lawrence
sang a duet "Star of the East". Rev.
Mark's sermon "Feast of Fools" was
very interesting and thought-provoking.
The responsive reading in honor of the
lighting of the "Candle of Joy" is as
follows: Keep your hopes high, for the
day of the Lord's coming is near. It is
time for the Advent of Joy. The desert
will rejoice, and flowers will bloom in the
wastelands. The desert will sing and
shout for joy. God is coming to our
rescue. The blind will see, and the deaf
will hear. The lame will leap and dance, ,
and those who cannot speak will shout
for joy. How happy are those who rejoice
in God's justice. God's justice is seen
when we deal fairly with each other, and
strive to change customs and practices
that oppress and enslave others. (The
lighting of the Candle). These days of
.a‘n-nenre when all people wait, are days
for the Advent of Joy.
The pre -communion hymn was sung
and the sacred ceremony of communion
was observed. Let us not forget what it
signifies.
After the closing ceremonies, John
Baker presented Rev. Mark with a
basket of fruit and treats from the con-
gregation and Jan Baker presented
Carolyn Love (our organist) . with a gift
from the congregation in appreciation for
all her duties and extras. Do not forget
Chrismon service at Carmel at 9:45 a.m.
next Sunday and Christmas Eve Service
