Their parents were up making breakfast. There children were thinking about Christmas and the toys and clothes they would get. The littlest chipmunk Kristin was thinking of all the toys well her older brother John was thinking of clothes and Rock -N -Roll cassetts. The family had only 3 gifts under the tree and was hoping Santa would bring more For their children the chipmunk family did not have much money but they could live with at it, just as long as they had each others love. The love in their family was more important then anything else. After breadfast Kristin and John went straight outside to play in the snow. They were outside for well over two hours, Kristin started to get cold, so they come in for awhile fc'ti hot chocolate. They had so much fun that Kristin started to cru to go back outside, so John had to take her back outside. They played for only another hour or more before Kristin started to get bored. After John and'Dristin came in they went• to bed for an afternoon nap, they were in bed for two hours. When they got up they played with a early Christmas prf- sent. When it became dark Kristin and John were really tared so they went to bed but they couldn't sleep. lt.was one or two In the morning on Christmas and Santa was still not there. The mother went out- side to see if Santa was any where in sight, she looked up at the chimney and there he was. It looked like he was stuck so she went back inside to get her husband but he was sleeping, so she had to think fast. She ran back into the tree house and came back out with a can of oil, then she climbed up the tree and oiled around the chimney so that Santa would slide right down it and then he would be able to give the little chipmuncks there presents. It was a very Merry Christmas after all. Merry Christmas! Everyone! Bruce Griffin Grade 5, Seaforth Public School ORPHAN'S REAL CHRISTMAS As they crept down the stairs, I smiled big and wide. Outside, white snowflakes, Danced through the sk. Her eyes, they were sparkling. His lips in a rosy smile. The happiness they showed. Would be there for awile. As they entered, the Christmas scene. They seemed to be in a trance. 1 nodded and showed them the traditions of Christmas at a glance They opened up, their lovely gifts. Their mouths hung agast. Their dream world was just coming true True for once at last. They flew 'round the pine tree, With giggles of delight, Tearing open candycanes. O what a sight. And when the Christmas dinner came, They ate and ate and ate. ' They had not seen such glorious food Set upon their plate. They hugged me hard, to show their thanks, For making this a joyous occaison. This had been a special day. For you see, twas the orphan's first real Chirstmas celebration. By: Sarah Lamble, Seaforth Public School. CHRISTMAS IS... Christmas is the smile on a little child's face. Christmas is joy for every colour or race. Christmas is the sparks that float through the air. Chirstmas is for stockings hung with much care, Christmas is the carolers joyously singing. Christmas is the sleigh bells clearly ringing.
