Strathroy tourney
The trip to Strathroy was definitely
worth it this weekend for the Queen's Hotel
pool team. The men spent two days at a
regional pool tournament and came away
victorious.
The double -knockout tournament - two
losses for instant elimination - was attend-
ed by 14 teams from the Middlesex -Huron -
Perth region. With all of the team
members but Ken Doig green on the tour-
nament circuit, the Queen's Hotel team not
only won the tournament but won it
without a single defeat.
"Ken Doig was our ringer," the team
agreed,
As tournament champions, the team was
presented with $350 and each member
recieved a trophy. The men wouldn't
elaborate on other tournament activities in
Strathroy, but reported that they all spent
a pretty quiet evening on their return to
Seaforth.

Seaforth t'itoms win silver in
The Atoms travelled north on the
weekend for Hanover's annual tournament.
The Seaforth boys had some really close
and exciting games.
Their first game was against Kincardine
Saturday morning. The fans had lots to
cheer about as the local squad had to
come from behind to win the game. Going
into the second period the boys were
. behind two goals but managed a goal with
only 49 seconds of play remaining in the
period. Jason Smith netted the goal
assisted by Chris Marion and Shaun
Anstett.
Kincardine was keen to keep their two
goal lead, when they scored early in the
third. The Seaforth team seemed determin-
ed to win when they netted three quick
goals to end the game. Scoring twice was
Shaun Anstett with Brandon Nash netting
the final goal. Earning assists were Bran-
don Nash, Mark Van Dooren, Brent Hulley
and Shaun Anstett.

had an easy victory and defeated them 7

was Seaforth who put the first goal on the
scoreboard. Jason Smith put the puck past
the Hanover goalie at the 1:10 mark,
assisted by Shaun Anstett and Mark Van
Dooren.
The fans saw a lot of good back and
forth hockey in the remainder of the game
but it was at the 6:28 mark of the third
period that Hanover evened the score. A
1-1 score at the end of the game meant
overtime. The teams continued to play two
minute periods until the tie was broken.
The first period of overtime was left
scoreless, but in the second period Brandon
Nash scored the winning goal, assisted by
Derek Smith.
This victory put the team into champion-
ship game against St. Marys. The boys
played hard, and played three regular
periods with another three periods of
overtime.
St. Marys was the first on the
scoreboard but it was only a minute later
that Jered Munro picked up a pass from
Josh Dietz and evened the score. The re-
mainder of the period was scoreless.
Seaforth's Shaun Anstett scored the go
ahead goal early in the second, assisted by
Pat Gridzak and Chris Marion.

Blustery weather didn't stop the
Seaforth Peewee "CC" facing off against
Wingham in Seaforth Saturday night.
The boys warmed up longer than usual
due to a slight, game delay, and came out
flying at the first whistle. Mike
Devereaux showed off his great stick
handling ability taking a pass from
brother Boyd and Brad Moore, scoring
Seaforth's first goal. Boyd Devereaux set
up the second goal also when he passed
the puck to defenceman Steve Mclnally
who blasted the puck from the point, and
Mike Devereaux tipped it •in past
Wingham's goalie. Defencemen Wayne
Schoonderwoerd and Steve Mclnally both
had chances to score from the point later
in the first but Wingham's goalie was
able to cover up those times. Wingham

cond while shorthanded. Mike Weber
