Seaforth Manor resident beats student at checkers
Good morning from the Manor!
The week began 'with Resident 'Bingo
Caller 'Pat 'Ryan leading the Bingo. Big
winners of the afternoon were: Dennis
Arvey, Elmer Bakscy, Mars Striate, Ann
Benninger, Mamie Ross, `Wilma Brill,
Marg 'Haase, Jenny Hildebrand and our
"dollar 'win" game went to Frank Smale.
Thanks to volunteer Mary Nolan for her
help at the tables.
On Tuesday morning Grade 5/6 students
Brad, Jeff, Valerie and Bobbi Jo visited
with residents. Brad led a game of soft
darts with Doris Smith, Wilma Brill and
Edith Salo. Jeff met his match when he
played Keith Herman a game or two of
checkers. Eva and Dave Netzke, as well as
Marg Smale and Mamie Ross enjoyed
chatting with Bobbi Jo and Valerie.
Christmas decorations flooded the activi-
ty room as residents, along with their im-
aginations, made some lovely wreaths,
some cute snowmen, a few windy candy
canes and a stained glass window orna-
ment. Everyone did well and who could
forget Christmas carol pianist, resident
Mabel Handy.
The weekly church service was led by
Rev, Don Jones of Northside United
Church, (PS. Your luncheon was very
good!1
Thursday morning about 12 residents
gathered' for the fun and fitness group. to
try, to bring the sun back residents got our
beach ball and hoola hoop out as they got
their blood flowing.
In the afternoon, volunteer ladies,
Doreen Kelly, Dorothy Papple, Hazel
McGonigle and Eva McCartney ran a
Euchre. Alvin Dodds was men's low, Keith
Herman held the men's high, Mamie Ross

Gladys Van Egmond and Elgin Nott pro-
vided two hours of non-stop music at the
November Birthday Party. Everyone en-
joyed the cake and ice cream and of
course the dancing. The winner of the pass
the parcel game was Doris Squire. Special

ueensway residents watch series on Lucy
Queensway residents enjoyed a Monday
morning coffee hour and current events. The
Bethel Reformed ladies assisted with Bingo
in the afternoon and following Bingo led a
hymn sing.
Fun and fitness started everyone off right
Tuesday morning as residents creaked their
way through ti ontine. Pastor Alles led the
worship service • the afternoon.
Residents spent Wednesday morning stret-
ching their minds at word games. Everyone
finds these games fun as well as beneficial.
Thursday evening re eentswatched the se-
cond video in the series on Lucille Ball. Most
residents remember enjoying Lucv's week-

Geri Fashions of London set up shop in the
activity room Friday. Residents; people from
the community alike enjoyed browsing and
buying throughout the day. In the afternoon
they held a Fashion Show. Thank you to
Muriel Gunning, Mildred Gingerich, Marg
Fremlin, Lloyd McDougall, Murry Howe, and
Grace Dinney tor modeling. Winners of the
draws were Luella Hall, jewelry, Ida Dunlop,
stockings, and Reta Morley a cardigan.

Craig who ran the projector for the even-
ing. The Huron County Library picks the
movies for Maplewood and they have been
•excellent.
On November 21 a Fashion Show was
held. Geri Fashions of London had the
front downstairs lounge set up as ra store,
su that everyone could browse through the
clothes. At 2 p.m., Jean Durst, Mabel
Strong, Helen Nott, Thehna Pryce and
Dorothy Papple modelled some of these
clothes. Their assistant was Anne Douney.
Thank you ladies for a job well done._er
the fashion show which was held in the
dining room residents and guests were
served tea and tarts by Jennifer Marion,
Jennifer De Jong, Julie Medd, Carrie Ban-
non, Amy Holmes and Judy Dolmage from
St. James School. Special draws were
made and gifts given by Geri Fashions.
The winners were: Laura Toll won a
sweater, Edith Dunlop won jewellery, Willy
Tremeer won a pair of socks, Esther
Thompson won a Maplewood cookbook on
a special tea cup prize.
On November 22 the Huron County
Health Unit held the foot care and health
surveillance clinic at Maplewood. It was
well attended despite blustery weather
which shows how the service is; greatly ap-
preciated. Thank you to .the nurses for pro-
viding this care.
On November 23, the 'residents of
Maplewood were off to Masonville to
Christmas shop and look. Thank you to
Ross Ribey and Huron Day Centre for the
extra wheelchairs. Part of; the trip includ-
ed a delicious lunch at Eatons. The sunny
day to make the trip made it even better.
Then on November 24 the bus was off
again. This time in the evening to see the
lighting ceremonies in Goderich. Now
we're all starting to get in the Christmas
spirit at Maplewood, .and residents invite
everyone to attend .our open house and
Christmas tea December 3. Come and visit
and enjoy Christmas goodies, Santa Claus.

The residents and staff of Maplewood ex-

the families of Gladys Wright and Arnold
Lamont.
