Only days remain until the Town of
Seaforth officially welcomes Christmas into
its community.
The whirlwind of events begins on Fri-
day, December 1, with a Christmas parade
at 7 p.m. Seelig is believing when you
ease the enchantment of thousands of
co twinkling lights on the parade en-
tries that "Lite Up Our Town". Mix the
beautiful music and the excitement and
goodwill of the participants drifting
through the air, and you're sure to catch
the Christmas spirit.
On Sunday, December 3, Seaforth will
host another extravaganza of events at the
Mid=Western Ontario Show and Sale.
Featured are five shows, each in its own
building. For a $2 admission charge (under
12 free when accompanied by an adult)
visitors are privy to visit the Farm Toy,
Doll and Miniature, Christmas Craft, Quilt
and Antique shows. These shows feature
many unique avenues for browsing and
shopping pleasures. Displays are in-
terspersed among the vendors of the Farm
Toy and Doll and Miniature Show, to give
a glimpse into the many hours of
pleasurable collection that these en-
thusiasts enjoy.
The Christams Craft, and Antique shows
are packed with products from a wide
variety of hobbies. Inspiration to fall into
their footsteps is free.
Climb aboard a farm wagon and enjoy a
hayrlde between attractions and strike up
a chorus or two of Jingle Bells. The power-
ful tractors pulling these wagons are
samples of the choice of tractor some
lucky person will have when they have the
last ticket out of the drum at the Seaforth
Agricultural Society's Tractor Elimination
draw next June.
Besides the opportunity to win many
beautiful door prizes, guests are welcome
to sample a lunch provided at the arena
by the Egmondville United Church, and at
the high school by the Van Egmond
Society.
Free skating will run from noon to 3
elm. at the arena too.
The Mid -Western Ontario Show and Sale
is organized by the Seaforth Agricultural
Society and the Van Egmond Society, with
the support of the Seaforth Business Im-
provement Area. It is planned with the en-
tire family in mind. The doors are open
from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

LEADER HONORED - 4-H Leader Dianne
van Vliet was honored last Tuesday night
for her contribution to the 4-H program.
Mrs. van Vliet, right, received her 10 year
leader award from Jane Muegge. Rural
Organization Specialist. Robinet photo.
It's not whether—

against 18 and 19 -year-olds at a Regional
meet to improve our school's chances of a
point spread, and who didn't speak to me
for days after I didn't place and "let the
team down,"
I laughed. But a lot of kids don't. Often-
times, a kid on a team will feel like their
world is falling down around their ears if
they don't perform to the best of their
ability, or make a mistake. Mistakes hap-
pen, people have off days, and the defini-
tion of "the best of their ability" can go
. dangerously askew when the expectations
of .a coach, or parent, start taking off.
What does a kid think when he sees so-
meone like Al Bruno talk about what a
"damn shame" it is, and that "the official
should be kicked out of the. league", on
National television? True or not, a seven-
year-old sense of justice is pretty
malleable, and an Atom player may very
well Expect his coach to, scream onto the
ice .and start berating the referee when a
play is dodgy and the team loses. And the
frightening thing is, they often do. Or
worse, the parents do.
Maybe the safest thing to do is stay out
of a uniform altogether.
