Good Bowling to all.
one with a good excuse for just cheering
from the sidelines.
"Mary Anne Hysbergen (nee
MacGregor) is here, but as you can see,
she's not playing tonight," Mr. Burgess
smiled, pointing out the eight -months preg-
nant former player on the bench.
The wily veterans walked away with a
44-30 win over the Seniors. Afterwards, a
get-together was enjoyed by all at Terry
Johnson's home.
Mr. Burgess, who coached the girls to
their 1979 victories over much larger
schools to win the Championship, was just
as proud as ever. He even wore the same
jacket on Friday night that he wore in
their victory team photo.
"These girls have displayed tremendous
togetherness to corse back again after ten
years."

Peewees off to flying start
z,.
The Seaforth Peewee 'DD' hockey team
began their regular season with a game
against Zurich at the Hensall Gardens.
Steve Vandenhengel started the scoring at
the 11;40 mark of the first period, assisted
by Matt Vock and Murray Workman.
Zurich, not to be outdone, retaliated with
a goal one minute later. Jim Crowley end-
ed the period with a goal assisted by Mike
Vock and Mark McNichol.
The second period belonged to Zurich as
they scored two goals to take a 3-2 lead
going into the third period. Steve
Vandenhengel added his second goal of the
game, assisted by Murray Workman at
5:05 in the third period. The game ended
in a 3-3 tie.
On Sunday, October 29, the team started
a three -game road trip beginning at the
Wingham Civic . Centre. Once again,
Seaforth was the first to open the scoring
with a goal by Matt Vocic in the first
minute of the game, perfectly set up by
Steve Vandenhengel and Jeff Ryan. The
next 25 minutes of play belonged to
Wingham, who took a two -goal lead.
Some heads -up passing by Jeff Ryan and
Mark McNichol put high -flying centre
Justin Rodney into the clear for a goal,
putting Seaforth within one goal of
Wingham. With a little more than one
minute left in the game, Harold Hugill
found the top left-hand corner of the net
from the point. A perfect pass from Steven
Vandenhengel was a big factor in this goal.
Once again, the game ended in a 3-3 tie.
After a week off, the team continued
their road trip to the Brussels Forum to
meet the ahnighty' Elma Logan team. The
home team scored first midway through
the first period. With the clock ticking
down, Matt Vock sped down the right wing
to whistle a shot past the Elma Logan
goalie on an assist by Jeff Ryan.
Ehna Logan scored the go-ahead goal of
the secopd period, but once again Seaforth
evened the score with Jeff Ryan's hard
shot from the point, assisted by Jim
Crowley. The home team was flying as
they scored twice in the final period, tak-
ing a 4-2 lead.
Coach Swan would have no part of this,
and Matt Vock responded by adding his se-
cond goal of the game on an assist by Jim
Crowley, putting Seaforth within one goal
of Elma Logan. Five minutes later, the
smooth -skating Dean Finnigan tied the
game, assisted by Matt Vock. Colin
Devereaux fired a shot past the goalie
from the point to clinch the game 5-4 for
Seaforth. Good solid defence, goaltending
and forechecking ensured this win for the
Peewees.
Seaforth moved on to the Hensall
Gardens for the final game of the road
trip. Neither team showed any desire to
win as the game stood 0-0 at the end of
the second period.
Seaforth struck first when Matt Vock
flipped in a loose puck halfway through the
the third period. Hensall replied with a ty-
ing goal less than a minute later. Hot
goaltending by Mike Smile kept this game
at a 1-1 tie. The coaches decided that "jet
lag" affected the boys' game.
STILL HAVE WHAT IT TAKES - The 1979 Junior Girls team from SDHSproved .
that they can still get the job done 10 years after winning the Huron -Perth Cham-
pionship. They got back together Friday night to challenge the 1989 Senior team
to a game and whipped them 44-30.Elliott photo.

These two teams had quite a time as
great control of the ball was shown by
both sides. Each team was under control
as ,the game ends at zip, zip tie.

Break aways were plentiful but awesome
saves by both goalies, Sandra Morrison
and Norah Eckert kept this game
scoreless. An exasperating game .to watch.

DUMPERS 1 RED RUSTLERS 1
Art Veenstra scores for the Red Rustlers
in ladies broomball
and ruffles the opposing goalie's game
plan. Terry Powell and Dave Vanneste
also lend a helping hand. In the second
half. the Dumpers awake, and Rick Ar-
chambault comes slithering in and tips the
ball into the net with help from Tony Arts
and Don Henderson.
WINTHROP 2 ROYALS 0
A composed shot from behind the net
ends up on front and is put into the net by
Ross Mitchell. Fred McClure and Brad
Campbell were helpers in this ordeal. A lift
shot by Dave Linton also ends up in the
net for Winthrop, thanks to a competent
pass by Neil Mitchell. The Royals have
new sweaters, and plenty of energy, but
lacked in goal scoring.
PARR LINE 2 EASY RIDERS 2
Parr Line's Ed Salverdo shoots and
scores unassisted. Not far behind is Craig
Piett who also scores the same style of a
goal with a little help from Rod Merrier.
The Easy Riders' first goal was by Steve
Eckert off a neat pass from Ed Van
Miltenburg and Joe Dorsers. With three
seconds left in the game twinkle toes Ed,
reaches way out and taps the ball into the
net to tie the game up. His assistants were
Steve Eckert and Joe Dorsers. A quick
game to- watch.
