me first meeting of the Hibbert 4-11 club
was held at Nancy Dearing's on Oct. 5.
The 4-11 pledge opened the meeting follow-
ed by the election of officers for this club
called Good Foods Fast.
Karen Vansteelandt is the new president,
Dixie Bowden, vice president, treasurer
Mary Jane Coyne, and secretary and press
reporter are floating. Other members are
Jenny DeJong, Jenny Ryan, Janet Vanden
Hoven, Tanya Vansteelandt who is also
Junior Leader, Cindy Visser and Leanne
Vogels. Leaders are Nancy Dearing and
Maria Vogels.
Subject matter discussed included Fast
Food Styles, Give 'Breakfast a Break,
Cereal Sense, and Snack Attacks were
discussed. We then made spiced apple
muffins, egg'n muffins, and party popcorn.
After tidying up, the girls tried the
delicious recipes.
The Second meeting of Hibbert 4-H club
was held at Maria Vogels on October 12.
Roll call was answered by nine members.
Fast Food Freaks was the name chosen
for the club.
Subject matters discussed were: Conve-
nience Foods - a Good Quick Solution? Be
a ,wise Consumer, Buying a Safe Bite to
Eat, Sharpen your Shopping Skills and
PEOPLE
Jane Bell of Mississauga and Louise
Bunner spent Thanksgiving at Jane's home
in Hulled Township.
Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Thornton of Lamp -
man, Saskatchewan visited a few days
with Mr. and Mrs. Norman Hubley at
Seaforth. Mr. Thornton and Mrs. Hubley
are first cousins and it has been 26 years
since they last saw each other.
Mr. and Mrs. Harold McCallum of RR 1,
Walton, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Preszcator
of Clinton also visited at the Hubleys to
visit with Mr. and Mrs. Thornton.
Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Hartman of
Bayfield visited on Sunday with Mr. and
Mrs. Harold McCallum at RR 1, Walton.
Ross Driscoll has returned to his home
on Welsh Street after being a patient in
Seaforth Hospital.
LIONESS NEWS
Twenty members were in attendance for
the meeting of the Seaforth Lioness Club.
A Halloween game was played while the
women ordered their dinner. Lioness Bet-
ty Hulley won first prize, Mary Margaret
Nash won second prize, and Betty Coleman
and Corrie Snowdon also won prizes.
Lioness Joan Borho, District President,
won the pumpkin. Roll call was answered
with a "scary story".
New Liason Officer for the Lioness is
Lion Doug McCallum. Welcome Lion Doug.
To Lion Irwin Johston, who has been the
Liason Officer since the club's inception
"thank you" for a job well done.
Reports were given on projects from the
past meeting. The Pie Sale was a success
again this year and was held at the
E.M.A. Store. Lioness Viola, Lioness Janet
and Lioness Betty did a terrific job con-
vening this project. The winner of the Quilt
donated by Mr. and Mrs. Dale was Bea
Kale.
"Thanks" to all thosewho attended the
"Living Colour" evening and to Hazel and
George Hildebrand for all their assistance.
Correspondence and business was
presented to the membership.
Some upcoming events are: Formosa
Craft Show and Sale hosted by the For-
mosa Lioness, Saturday November 11,
from 9:30 to 4:30 at the Formosa Com-
munity Centre; Appreciation Night for
Past District President Lioness Yvonne
Porter, on November 11 at the Candlelight
Restaurant, Social Hour 6:30, Dinner at
7:30, R.S.V.P. before November 1. The
Fort Gratiot Lioness Club is hosting the
Third International Brunch on October 22,
1989. Anyone interested in attending any of
these functions please contact Lioness

Money has, been set aside for glasses for
some area children. This is a project done
jointly by the Lions and Lioness. Lioness
Joan Borho, District President, addressed
the group. She spoke on the Sunshine
Foundation and on the Blind and Visually
aided people, and also about Lake Joseph
Centre.
There is a "pin" contest to be held in
the District for the best District Pin depic-
ting the fifth Anniversary. The winning
club will receive pins for all its members.
Lioness Joan reminded members when they
are busy doing club work to (1) have fun, (2)
be busy, (3) share the load.
Lioness Joan and three of her club -
members from Formosa shared the
meeting and fun. Seaforth has been invited
to attend their meeting on November 14 in
Formosa.
A "Baby Sitting Course" is going to be
offered this Fall and the cost is $10. Ages
accepted are from 12 -years -old and up.
Lioness Marlene Devr-ies and Lioness
Tracey Nash will be in charge Of this pro-
ject. Anyone interested please contact one
of the above women. This course is based
on a limited number of applicants. It is
strictly first ,come'first served. If you are
interested call 5271842 or 522-1769.
Secret pals were revealed and new ones
chosen.
The next meeting will be on Tuesday,
November 21, 1989 at Ginette's Restaurant:
Lioness Dorothy won the Mystery .Prize.
Susan Dick joined members 'for cjinner,
and was intr-oddeed by Lioness Dorothy.

Fast Food Guide. Members then made
Macaroni and Cheese from scratch, from
a mix and a frozen dinner to compare
taste, cost and time. Tanya, Junior Leader,
discussed a comparison of other foods this
way using pizza and muffins as other ex-
amples. A "Quick" Fix Mix was made and
then used to make Biscuits and Pancakes.
After taste testing all the food the meeting
, was adjourned.
Meeting three of the Fast Food Freaks
was held on October 17 at Nancy Dearing's
home. The 4-11 pledge opened the meeting
and nine girls answered the roll call.
Subject matter for this meeting included
meal planning, Getting organized, Batch
cooking , Leftovers or Planned overs and
High Tech in the kitchen. Each member
brought a "kitchen gadget" to the meeting
to see how many knew what they were for
and how much they are used. A cover
design was chosen,
Recipes made at this meeting were Fast
Fix'n Salad, Thousand Island Dressing and
Make Ahead Meat Sauce which we used on
spaghetti noodles. After clean up and taste
testing the meeting was adjourned.
Baby Baptized
Tyler Francis Van Drunen, infant son of
Francis and Marguerite Van Drunen was
baptized on Sunday, October 22 at St. Col-
umban Catholic Church by Father Joseph
Hardy.
Tyler's godparents are John and Annie
Houben.
Guests attending the baptismal ceremony
and later at the home of Francis and
Marguerite were Peter and Margaret Van
Nynatten and children, Casey and Donna
Van Nyatten and children, Peter and Mary
Jo Van Drunen and children, Trudy Koert, -
Joanne Van Drunen,Mike and Kelly Van
