Acting Chairperson was :Shirley Dinsmore. Devotions were read °by Prances Teatero;as well as a reading. The -23rd ' Psabn was read in memory of Don Millard. `Pins are to be ordered for the A.C.W members. Plans were made for the Christmas Bazaar to take place on Satur- day, November 18 at the Parish Hall, 'The Utiles will be making their famous .Clwistmas Puddings on November 4 at 9 at the 'Parish Hall. If you volunteered to help please do not forget We need all the helpers, 'The next meeting will be held at the home of Shirley Dinsmore on November - and guest will be Rev. Gilson. The mystery prize was won by Elsie Dinsmore :St. -Thomas Chancel Guild met in the Vestry on Monday, October 2. Marion MacLean and Marg Beuerman cooked up meat pies for sale for the Bazaar It was in February 1949 That a group of clergy and lay people met in St. James Cathedral Parish Hall to discuss the for- mation of a Diocesan Chancel Guild. Mrs W. Stanley Smith was the leader of the discussion. During her stay in New York she had learned of and been impress- ed by the work of the Diocesan Guild of New York. After the meeting the Rt. Rev AR Beverley was approached to authorize the formation of a Diocesan Chancel Guild in Toronto The authority was given. At a meeting on February 11. 1949 in St James Parisi, Hall, a constitution was drawn, and Mrs Smith was asked to be the first President of the Toronto Diocesan Chancel Guild lo 1967 all church women's work and organizations to the Diocese of Toronto became part of the newly -formed Anglican Church Women After much prayer and discussion the Toronto Diocesan Chancel Guild agreed to become part of the A.C.V+ as the Chancel Department The Chancel Department also includes the former Ec- ?akes .$276 al pie sale HOSPITAL AUXILIARY by Frances Teatero 522-1979 They are selling for $7 for a large pie and $1.50 for s small the Christina; Cake is also going to be made for $4.5t, a pound. The ideals of The Chancel Guild are still faithfully carried out 'Wherever there is a church and an altar where the sacrament of the Body and Blood of Christ is celebrated there is the need for dedicated members to prepare for this Feast. Membership: To be asked to serve as a member of a Parish Chancel Guild is an honor and a unique opportunity to serve God and His Church. By long-standing custom, appointment as a Chancel Guild member, is made by the Rector of the Pariah, who will make the appointment with care and consideration of the work to be done - Upon a person's appointment to the Chancel Guild you are now a lifetime member. The Regular Board meeting of St Thomas was held on October 12 The minutes were read and approved. The "Henry the Eighth Feast" is to be held on February 17, 1990, and an Adult Christmas party is tentatively planned for Friday December 1 and convenors of this event are Paul Spittal and Frances Teeter() More information will be available next month. The November Dinner will be held at the Legion Peg Coombs,. Nancy Larone and Pau] Spittal will be in charge of this func- tion. Joan Spittal, Sunday School Superintendent, has asked that all Sunda) School teachers and Nursery teachers at- tend a meeting to be held on Wednesday. October 25 at 7 pm in the Parish Hall (the teenage helpers meeting is to be held at a separate time,. Twenty children are presently actively attending the Sunda) School, On December the 3rd White Gift Sunday will be held at church. Arrangements are being finalized for a Christmas Pageant and a Pot Luck Parish Supper. More infor- mation on this will be available next month.
