The FALL RECREATION PROGRAM
will be starting this week. Below is a list
of these programs: Furniture Refinishing
- Monday evenings; Mixed Adult Com-
petitive Volleyball - Monday evenings;
Auto Mechanics for Beginners - Tuesday
evenings; Introduction to Computers -
Wednesday evenings; Mixed Adult Recrea-
tional 4Volleyball - Wednesday evenings;
Mixed Adult Basketball - Thursday even-
ings - (Please note basketball will not
begin until October 19); and Children's Tap
Dance - Saturday mornings.
If you are interested in joining any of
these programs, please call the Recreation

In the Fall of every year, the Seaforth
Recreation and Parks Committee presents
three valuable people of Seaforth with
CITIZENSHIP AWARDS in three
categories.
1) SERVICE TO SPORTS - A person who
volunteers his/her time to sports organiza-
tions, or sports in general in Seaforth.
2) CIVIC SERVICE - A person who

tune for the betterment of the community.
3) HUMANITARIAN SERVICE - A person
who is considerate of mankind, and is will-
ing to give his/her time to help other
people.
These awards are chosen based on the
individual's contribution to the community
in a VOLUNTEER CAPACITY. Anyone
from Seaforth may nominate an individual
for any category by submitting the name,
what category of service, some background
information of this person and reasons for
nominating this person, to the SEAFORTH
RECREATION DEPARTMENT, P.O. Box
885, Seaforth, Ontario, NOK 1WO 527-0882.
These awards will be presented at the
end of November. The place has not been
decided upon yet. Deadline for submitting
nominations is October 20, 1989.

TAMMY NASH
Tammy Nash is 17 years -old and is cur-
rently attending Seaforth District High
School in Grade 12. She belongs to the
basketball and volleyball teams at the
school and participates in baseball,
oroomoau ane rmgette tor local teams.
While being active with these teams she
still manages to achieve honour role status
as a student.
Taminy plays a key role with all her
teams. Tammy was the school's choice to
go to the Ontario Student Leadership Camp
this year but because of complications was
unable to attend.
KARSTEN CARROLL
Karsten Carroll is an avid member of
the many sports' teams offered at the
Seaforth District High School. After mak-
ing it into the semi-finals at Huron -Perth
tennis, Karsten was one of the• four
members at the victorious Huron -Perth
golf champions. They later went on to
place a very respectable 14th among
much larger schools. in the WOSSA com-
petition. Currently involved in Senior
Boys volleyball, Karsten also plays
Seaforth High School hockey, basketball
and soccer. After high school, Karsten
plans to attend university.

workshops, registration forms are available
at the Seaforth Recreation Office, 122 Duke
St., (inside the Arena).
The SEAFORTH CENTENAIRES begirt
another season of hockey, with the home
opener on Sunday, October 8 against
Tavistock. Game time is set for 1:30 p.m.
The Centenaires look promising this year.
In two pre -season games they have tied
Brussels and beat Wellesley. Come out and
support our local team.
The SEAFORTH-DENMARK HOCKEY
EXCHANGE group are still selling tickets
on a new Ford Probe. The tickets can be
purchased at a price of $100 which includes
the draw for the car, nine cash draws, and
admission for two into the dance. The
dance and draws will be held on Saturday,
November 18, 1989. At the Seaforth and
District Community Centres. Only 350
tickets will be sold. Tickets are available
from any member of the Bantam Hockey
team or at Bob and Betty's Variety Store.
Proceeds from the draw will help fund the
team when they visit Denmark in
December.
YBC bowling has started again
Youth bowling started September 12 and
the first night of league bowling started
September 26 for Bantams and September
27 for Juniors and Seniors. There are 39
boys and girls bowling this year.

Golf tea makes respectable showing
WOSSA for many years.
It should be noted that an article last
week about the Huron -Perth Championship
incorrectly reported that David McNairn
won the tournament with a score of 19.
Mr. McNairn actually shot a 77.
The boys golf team placed a very
respectable fourteenth out of 31 teams at
the W.O.S.S.A. golf championships in In-
gersoll last Thursday.
Tony.Greidenus shot an 84, Karsten Car-
roll 85 and David McNairn 89. This marks
the best showing for the golf team of

Seniors alley
bowling resumes
Twenty-nine bowlers were out to the
lanes on Friday afternoon for the first
Seniors alley bowling.
Beryl Reid was the high bowler for the
day with a 235 single and triple of 592.
Anne Wood was next high with a 538 tri-
ple and Betty Hulley 537.
For the' men Elmer D'ow was in fine
form as he had a 583 triple and Art.
Finlayson next with a 548 triple. It is good
to see Art 'able to bowl again. Bert Walters
our eldest Senior bowling was also able to
come up with a 196 game.
Teams and schedules are made up and
we look for most of last year's bowlers to
again participate. Congratulations to
Starlight Lanes on their renovations. They
certainly have improved the interior of the
bowling alley. Seniors Bowling starts at
1:30 pm en Friday afternoon.. Good bowl-
ing to all.

APPOINTMENT
Ed Byrski, general manager, and Heather Flobinet,
editor, are pleased to announce the appointment of
Paula Elliott as reporter/photographer for The Huron
Expositor.
Paula, who is a native of Glencoe, is a graduate of
the University of Waterloo and previously worked at the
Business Advocate in London and at the Dunnville
Chronicle.
Paula is presently in the midst of moving to Seaforth
and looks forward to her future here.
