Dublin . club to study junk food

The Dublin 4-H Club girls held their first
and second meetings on September 19 and
26th, and have chosen the name "The
Junkfood Judges." The leaders are
Charlene Delaney and Nancy Louwagie,
and the council is president Patricia Mur-
ray; vice-president Lynn Fenney;
treasurer Colleen Deloyer; secretary
Denise Meagher; press reporter Jolene
Cronin and phone committee Marianne
Cook. The above executive was chosen at
the first meeting, and the girls also
discussed their own eating habits.
At the second meeting, the girls check-
ed into fast foods and the expense of many
quick -make -store purchased foods. After a
discussion on foods, the meeting was dos-
ed in the usual manner. The meetings will
be weekly on Tuesday evenings, Jolene
reports.
The Dublin CWL held their bi-annual
meeting on September 27th in the church
basement. President Julie Van Bakel open-
ed the meeting with a prayer and a

welcome to everyone present. Secretary
Mamie Delaney read the minutes of the
last meeting and the correspondence.
Treasurer Marie O'Rourke gave the
treasurer's report.
It was planned that a Christmas dinner
be set for December 5th and the bazaar
plans were finalized for October 18th in the
church basement. Everyone is welcome to
attend. The prizes are: first, quilt;,second,
afghan, donated and made by Mrs. Katie
Murray; third, $25. Nel Doyle has
volunteered to recite the rosary at all
funerals held in the church. The mystery
prize of the evening was won by Ursula
McLaughlin, and the meeting was closed
with lunch.
Jim and Mary Anne, Mary Jane and
David Snowden have returned from an en-
joyable holiday at Jim's brothers, Torn
Snowden in Calgary, and while there
toured Lake Louise, Banff and Jasper.
Pat and Marion Cleary from London
were with Don and Eileen MacRae on the
weekend.
Nora Ann Jackson and son Trevor, Lon-
don, were with Pat and Mike MacRae.

The McKillop 1V 4-H club held its first
meeting on Thursday, September 28. The
topic for this club is "Home and Farm
Safety". The leaders of the club are Jan-
neke Murray and Cora de Vries.
The meeting started with the 4-H pledge.
There are twelve members in this club
who are: Karen Murphy, Michelle Murray,
Morgan Murray, Susan Stewart, Lawrence
Flanagan, Kim Maloney, Rosalie Poppe,
Melanie Cronin, Michelle Cronin, Feria and
Nadia • Khan and Sharon Kelly.
The new executive is Kimberly Maloney.

Mrs. Katie Murray attended the wedding
of her granddaughter Colleen Melady to
Craig Kerslake on Saturday In St. Colum -
ban Church.
Visitors with Mrs. Murray were Philip
Flanagan, Scarborough; Frank and Louise
Maloney, Kitchener; Cyril and Rose Marie
Murray, Waterloo; Lorraine Feeney, St.
Marys. They all attended the wedding of
Colleen and Craig on Saturday. Donny and
Rose Flanagan, Barrie, were also with
Katie on the weekend.
Mrs. Millie Evans has returned home
after visiting with her daughter and son-in-
law Jerry and Joan Mayman, Long Island,
New York, at the home of Jack and Marie
Cleary in London. Callers this past week
with Millie were Mr. and Mrs. John
Frapier (Margaret Holland) from Mon-
treal, and Mrs. Barbara (nee Holland)
Howey of Elmira.
Joe (Jr.) Eckert and friend from Kit-
chener and Ann Hurley, Karen and
Richard, Stratford, were with Joe and Olga
Eckert on the weekend.

The club learned how important
nutritious food and water are in one's life.

SURPRISE PARTY
The family of Ab and Eileen Cronin sur-
prised their parents on Sunday and
celebrated an early Thanksgiving with
them.
Those present were Leo and Mary Smith
of Acton, Sonja Smith and friend of Acton,
Melodee and Lloyd Black of Fergus,
Joanne and Dave Regier and family of
Kitchener, Jerry and Heather Cronin and
family, Jim and Karen Cronin and family,
Steve and Nancy Cronin and family and
Crystal and Andrew Carruthers of
Mississauga. Being the weather was so
nice they had a game of soccer and a pic-
nic supper.
PEOPLE
Ted and Frances Melady attended the
twenty-fifth wedding anniversary of Frank
and Marie Rowley in Kitchener on Satur-
day evening. Marie is the daughter of
Dorothy Harbach and a niece of Ted and
Frances.
Don Melady of Toronto visited on Sunday
with Ted and Frances Melady.
Family with Cecilia Ryan during the
weekend were Louise Ryan of Kitchener,
Mary Jo and John Nelson of Lucknow and
J.D. and Marg MacRae, Jenny and Ian of
London.
Congratulations to Colleen Melady and
Craig Kerslake who were united in mar-
riage on Saturday, September ' 30, by
Father J. Hardy at St. Columban Catholic
Church. Their parents are Theo and
Catherine Melady and Elwyn and Wilma
Kerslake.

On September 4, the Walton Squirt girls
defeated Listowel 13-4 leaving them the Tri
County "A" champs of their division. They
put Listowel out in the first two games, in
a best two out of three series, just as they
defeated Seaforth A two games straight.
There was one loss in all playoff games
by Walton, which was to Seaforth B by a
score of 19-17. Throughout the entire
season, regular and playoffs this was the

ding of her nephew on September 23, near
Mississauga.
Weekend visitors with Mrs. Mac Engel

Some highlights of the final game includ-
ed a home run by Heather Blake, a triple
hit by Colleen Collins and some outstan-
ding catches by Kendra Shortreed, Dianne
Dolmage, Lisa Gingerich and Marie
Cronyn, Heather Blake's pitching con-
tributed greatly as well to the team's win.
The Walton Squirt Girls played together
as a team and supported each other all the
way. This was the biggest contribution to
their wins.

first euchre sponsored by 'the Forester§
when 15 tables played. Prizes were won by
the following: High - Becky Ruppel, Jack
