Rec department to host programs
The Van Egmond Foundation would
like to invite everyone to their Fifteenth
Annual Ciderfest. This event will be held
on. Sunday, September 24 at the Van ,Eg-
mond House. See demonstrations of Apple
Pressing, Sausage making,
Blacksmithing, Spinning and Soap
making.
When you go to Ciderfest you can enjoy
a Flea Market, Games and Contests,
Music by the Jug Band and The Music
Man. Fresh hot and cold Apple cider, ap-
ple fritters and numerous other 'Apple
treats'. Don't miss the pioneer -style
barbeque.
Featured on the menu is barbequed
beef, pork and turkey, a kettle of beans,
spuds and maine pasties. Proceeds from
this day will go to the work and
maintenance of the Van Egmond House.
Lots to do for everyone, don't miss it!
The Seaforth and District Minor Hockey
Association would like to remind all those
people that have not registered yet, to do
so, as soon as possible. No person is
allowed on the ice until he/she is paid in
full.
Please drop into the Recreation Office
to do your registration.
A Notice to all players - tryouts for all
teams will start in .the first week of Oc-
tober. Please watch next week's 'Ex-
positor for dates and times of when you
play.
A special thank you to all participants
of the 9th' annual Terry Fox Run. This
year both St. James and Seaforth Public
Schools had 100 percent participation. On
Sunday, the run was open to the Public,
and 44 participants took part. This
number is a little lower than last year,
but more money was raised this year.

ticipants and volunteers. Events like this
bring us closer to a cure for Cancer.
The Seaforth Minor Ball Association
wrapped up the 1989 season on Sunday
with the Awards -Potluck Banquet. Over
350 -players and parents 'were in atten-
dance. Congratulations to Junior Mite
Boys, Mite Girls and the Bantam Girls
for winning their respective divisions.
They all received individual trophies,
donated by the Recreation Department.
The new executive for next year will be
President: Mike Alexander, Vice Presi-
dent: Leroy Ford, Secretary -Treasurer:
Pam Nesbitt, Director; Rose Preszcator,
Director: Norah Elert and Director:
Georgina Reynolds.
The Seaforth Fall Fair will. ;,c nerd on
Thursday, September 21 and Friday,
September 22, 1989. Admission is free.
Special highlights are: Parade at 11 a,m.
Friday, 441 show and competition,
African Lions Safari Parrot Show, races,
Trade Show and exhibits. For more infor-

The Ladies Recreational Ball League
would like to invite everyone to their
wind-up dance. This dance will be held at
the Seaforth Legion on Saturday,
September 23 at 9 p.m. Admission is free
and no minors will be admitted.
The Seaforth Industrial Hockey League
is now taking names for the 1989-90

HOCKEY LEAGUE

season. The sign-up sheet will be at Ar-
chie's Sunoco. Registration fee is $135 -
$100 upon sign up and $35 after
Christmas.
The Seaforth Recreation Department
will be hosting the following programs:
Mondays from 7 to 9 p.m. - Wood
Refinishing at the High School starting
October 2. Mixed Competitive Volleyball
also on Monday evenings at the High
school from 8 to 10 p.m.
Tuesday even-
ings will be for a Basic Mechanic's
Course from 7 to 9 p.m. Mixed Recrea
tional Volleyball will be held on Wednes-
day evenings from 8 to 10 p.m. and also
on Wednesday evenings a Basic Com-
puter Course will be held from 7 to 9
p.m.
On Thursday evenings, Mixed Adult
Basketball will be held. Children's Tap
Dance will be starting early in October
on Saturday mornings from 9 to 11 a.m.
at the Arena. The above programs will
start in early October, please watch the
Expositor for more details or call the
Recreation Office, 527-0882.
The Recreation Department will also be
hosting a Hockey School for Novice and
Atom players only. The first date will be
Monday, October 2 from 7:30 to 8:30 p m.
There is still room for more children.
This program will be 10 one hour sessions
and the price will be $35 per person. For
more information please call the Recrea-
tion Office.

Your instructor will be James Sampa. Registration fee is $35.00 for 20 weeks. This program
will start on October 2 from 6-10 p.m.
BASIC AUTO 'MECHANICS - will be held on Tuesday evenings from 7.9 p.m. at'the High School.
Your instructor wiltbe Jim 'Floyd. This program will be for both men and women. You will learn
a better understanding of how your car works and what makes it run. The content of this •pro-
'gram.willinclude:lhe engine, chassis and drive train, lubrication, electrical system, tires and
wheels, fuel and'cooling system. This will be a ten week course and the registration fee will
be $25.00. This program will begin on October 10.
MIXED RECREATION VOLLEYBALL - will be held on Wednesday evenings from 8-10 p.m.
at the High School. Your instructor will be Tern Dale. Registration fee will be $35,00 for 20 weeks.
This program will begin on October 4. This program is for the participants that Just want to
play for the recreation time. Monday volleyball Is for the competitive person.
INTRODUCTION TO:COMPUTERS - will be held .on Wednesday evenings from 7-9;30 p,m.
at the High School, Yourinstructor will be Sheila Mullin Campbell. This will be a 10•Week,pro-
gram and registration fee will be $35.00. This course is designed to teach beginners how to
,use a computer. This course flows in an easy -to -understand non-technical manner and pro-
vides an introduction tothe'BASICprogramming language, word;processing.and computer ac-
,eounting,using an electronic spreadsheet. This program will begin on -October 4.
