Those same ehordsters also think that the second best kept secret is that they have and support, a registered charity known as the "Harmonize for Speech Fund". Never heard of it you say? Then perhaps you should consider being a part of the crowd that will gather with the Seaforth Harmony King's in the Mit- chell and District High Sebool on Satur- day evening, September 30. You'll likely come away understanding that barber - shoppers put their hearts and voices in- to harmony not only for the benefit and enjoyment of their audience and themselves, but as a way to provide continuing support for the many children who are born with speech impediments. The Seaforth Harmony King's are one of 28 Ontario Chapters of "The Society for the Preservation and Encourage- ment of Barbershop Quartet Singing in America" and are about to stage a dual-purpose effort that will provide en- joyment for two special groups of people. The first beneficiaries will be those generous people who purchase tickets and form the audience on September 30 to have Ontario's top barbershop- chorus and quartets take them to the "four part highs" of a lifetime' The second and most Important group .will share the longest lasting benefits from the "show". namely the many children with speech difficulties who will receive help through the proceeds from the show! • Entitled "Barbershop Best", this pro- duction is the Harmony King's first all out fundraiser and a must for lovers of this unaccompanied, chord -bending style of music. Stars of the show will surely be the "Scarborough Dukes of Har- mony", a 98 man, twice international Champion Chorus, that can re-establish one's definition of• the word "power". And for those connoisseurs of simple, pure, four part harmony, no less than four of Ontario's top quartets will per- ' form, including the smooth "Mills Brothers Sound", of "General Delivery", Audiences should be careful of "Hum Along Disease", it could be catching: If , you've ever seen a piece of the Change made i testing service111441116-.4 Barbershop Society literature you will likely notice the logo printed there: "We sing...that they shall speak". Spend ten dollars and learn more about the second best kept secret. It might be fun! Tickets are available from any member of the Seaforth Harmony King's or call 482-9828. wan -r1 weather Special thanks to Mina Scott, the pianist. Thursday morning residents limbered up their bodies with fun and fitness to music. Their bodies were ready as well -as their minds. as the afternoon was spent doing various Word Games. Residents proved to be very successful at these. Friday afternoon several residents en- joyed short drives over to Clinton or out to the country for a look at the crops. President Pat Ryan, chaired our monthly residents' council meeting on Saturday afternoon. Bingo followed in the evening. Big winners included: Kathryn Waltham, Annie Harrison, Mamie Ross, Cassie Nicholson, Mort Mann, Jenny Hildebrand, Maxine Elliott, Frank Smale, Maria Goovaerts, Marg Smale and Mabel Hardy.
