"Two weeks in August. filled with enter-
taining activities, unusual experietices and
memorable moments. shared with people
from another province. and ending with
lifetime friendships. more knowledge and
lots of souvenirs was the highlight of my
summer. This is what I had the opportuni-
ty to experience this summer when 1,
along with other 4-H members, went on an
Openhouse Canada exchange to Cardston.
Alberta.
We, started oft our week by climbing
"Bears Bump" and don't be fooled by the
name. If you're not used to climbing, this
so called "hump' seems more like a
mountain.
What would a trip. to Western Canada be
without attending a barn dance, and a hike
to Waterton at Red Rock Canyon'. This
hike took all afternoon because most of us
and attended a rodeo that was filled with
constant excitement. We interviewed the
Mayor of Cardston and toured the Rem-
ington Carriage Collection.
When our delegates come to Ontario we
certainly did our share of entertaining.
Everyone attended the 4-H bus trip to Sar-
nia, where we enjoyed a boat ride and the
slide rides. Probably "Kiss Me Kate" at
the Shakespearean Festival, Stratford,
followed by a special backstage tour was
the highlight for everyone. To our
delegates from Alberta, Canada's
Wonderland was a thrilling experience. We
concluded our two weeks together 'With a
party at the Grand. Bend Pinery, after
which everyone returned to my home for
a final farewell.
This was a most enjoyable experience
and I would recommend it to anyone who
has the opportunity. Special thanks to our
parents. our chaperone Dianne Steinbacker
and the 4-H program. Without all those
mentionned the exchange trip would not
have been possible."
