Retired teachers can now work withol..'t penalty Retired teachers will not be able to work 95 days without having their pen- sions reduced, Education Minister Sean Conway has announced. "There. are enough qualified teachers to • meet Ontario's requirements in most sub- ject areas for this year, and this action is one way to ensure we maintain that supp- ly in the future," Mr. Conway said. The regulation change was made under the Teachers' Superannuation Act. Previously, pensioners could return to employment in educaton for only 20 days • in a school year without. pension penalties. After the 20 -day 'knit, their pensions were reduced by' one four - hundredth for each day worked. The increased limit will allow retired teachers to, return to .the classroom for temporary and• supply teaching assignments for about one semester per year. "This will significantly expand the pool of qualified and experienced supply teachers for Ontario schools particularly in certain areas, such . as 'technology, special education and 'French -language in- struction," Mr. Conway said.
