Date changed for registration nights
I would like to start this week's column
by apologizing to all the readers of last
week's edition. The dates were not cor-
rect for the JOINT REGISTRATION
evenings, The correctdates are: Tues-
day, September 5 and Wednesday,
September 6 from 7 to 9 p.m., both nights
at the Seaforth and District Community
Centres. This will be a great chance for
all families to register your son/daughter
in .any program available. •
:Winter groups that will be in atten-
dance to take your registration are:
Minor Hockey. Minor Broombali.
Ringette, Figure Skating, Boy Scouts,
Girl Guides, the Curling Club, the
Recreation Department and Starlight
Bowling Lanes.
'There will be some tables set up if
anybody would like to sell their used
equipment. This equipment sale will be
done at the owner's risk, no group will be
. responsible. If any equipment is left at
the Arena on Wednesday evening, it will
be thrown in the garbage.
FITNESS IS FUN!!!, the exercise pro- •
gram for all ages. where you are en-
couraged to ..work at your own pace'.

This program will give special emphasis
on stretching, lotv-level aerobics and care
for the back, This session is suitable for

If you are unable to make the morning
classes, come out to the Wednesday even-
ing class. This will begin on Wednesday,
September 13 from 8'to 9 pan. also at the
Community Centres. This session is for
total body conditioning, low -impact
aerobics, circuit training, stretching,
strengthening for injury prevention, and
free weights (optional Everybody is
welcome, and men are enconraged to
join. For information or registration

The Seaforth .Lioness Club is sponsoring
"LIVING WITH COLOUR" with Leslie
Harrrington, color coordinator of Ben-
jamin Moore Paints. This event will be
held at the Seaforth and District Com-
munity Centres on Thursday, September
28. starting at 7:30 p.m. Admission will be
62 per person .and refreshments wiUbe
served.
"Living with Colour" is sponsored by
the Seaforth Lioness Club, and all pro-
ceeds will go towards the Hospital
Building Fund. Tickets may be purchased
from Georgina Reynolds or Francis
Teatero, or any Lioness member.
Don't miss the CALIFORNIA CUTIES
In action on itursday, September 7 at
7:30 p.m. at the Seaforth Lions Park. Ad- •
mission to watch the game is $2 for
children and $9 for adults. The Cuties
competition will be the Waterloo
Chym'ers of the Inter -City Fastball
league. This should be an exciting game.
so don't miss it! All proceeds from this
evening will be going towards minor ball.
Pick up your TERRY FOX RUN pledge
sheet today,and help Terry find a cure
for cancer. The Terry Fox Run will be
held on Sunday, September 17, 1989, star-
ting at the Van Egmond House. The run
site will be open from 8 a.rn. to 12 noon.
Pledge sheets are available at all .banks,
the Post Office, Town Hall, the Recrea-
tion Office, Archie's Sunoco, Beckers,
Slender Concept and the Chiropractor's
Office. For more information please call

Coops stay alive in ladies industrial playoffs
The Ladies Industrial Softball league's
second set of playoffs were held on Tues-
day, August 22.
in .the early game, the Kids Kloze Killers
came .up against Coops. It was do or die
for -the Coops team as the KKK already
had one game to their credit in the best
two out of three series. It was a close ball
game, with Coops the victors by a 13-11
.score. •
Big hits for the winners came from
Carol Bennewies with a double and Karen
Whettlaufer with a triple.
Cheryl Regele hit a home run for the
KKK.
The second game saw the Queens
fighting to stay in the playoffs after losing
their first game to the Commercial. It was
not meant to be, however, and the Queens

The manager of Team • Western, an
adult hockey team based in Winnipeg, -is
looking for players to participate in a
recreational tour of Europe this season.
Dave Springett organizes tours for
players, regardless of ability, each year
and hopes to "find some interested area
players to sign up for this year's trip."
Springett adds, "All the players have a
great hockey experience, gel LO visit un-
ferent countries, and compete against
Europeans, which few players get the
chance to do "

Each player is responsible for their
own travel expenses while the club pro-
vides uniforms, jackets, duffle bags, and
makes all the arrangements. Players
from British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatc-
chewan, Manitoba, Ontario and Quebec
have participated in the past.
The entire team is filled on a first
come first serve basis and will play five
no contact exhibition games during the
11 -day trip. All area players are welcome
and can get more information on
registration by calling Dave Springett at
