THIS WEEK TN
Seventy-lwo"teams 1n :60th tournament
"Just a super day" was a familiar
comment heard last Wednesday at the
Seaforth Lawn Bowling Club's 60th an-
niversary tournament
Seventy-two teams from all over
Western Ontario competed for prizes, all
donated by the club, members and
associates Two of Seaforth's Senior lady
members, as they have this past few
years, each donated a hand made afghan.

favorable plaudits from out-of-town
bowlers re the condition of the greens.

Manship of Woodstock with 3w plus 35. •
All two game winners and most one

by members and associates .to whom the
club is most grateful for their generosity.
The ladies in the kitchen also deserve a
special thank you for their effort in pro-
viding lunch at noon, snacks and
beverage during the day, and a hot sup-
per at night. This entailed a great deal of
team effort and also the property com-
mittee were busy setting up picnic tables
and umbrellas.
The weather was ideal for bowling so
all in all the 60th anniversary was a most
successful day. We do not want to forget

Katie Phillips who generously donated
her home to assemble and tag the prizes,
and the delicious lunch we all enjoyed
after.
Back in 1929 the ladies served supper
for a men's bowling tournament that year
and decided to charge 35 cents for the
lunch. How times have changed. Draw
master Mel Brady and wife Esther also
are to be commended on the job they did
with 72 teams bowling and a double
draw. This is a busy day for them.
Ladies of the club hope to bowl in
Wingham and Atwood this week and on
Wednesday a men's pairs is in Mitchell.
Next weekend is the big M and M for
men's trebles in Hanover. Mixed trebles i?
at our Seaforth Club and men's pairs at
Lucknow their rM and M.
Bowling in 'Wingham on Saturday a
number of young ball players from a
tournament adjacent to the Wingham
greens came over to watch the lawn
bowling. With a little coaching from two
Goderich lawn bowlers some of the boys o
tried the game and found it wasn't as
easy to draw to the jack as it looks. In
every club, members would like to try
and get younger members interested.
Good bowling to all.
