went into penalty shots.
In the five penalty shots Pat Coyne and
Mark Van Dooren were the only St. C,ol-
umban players to score, but only 2 Lucan
I players scored. The game then went to
1 on 1 "sudden death" penalty shots, and
while the Luean I player missed on his
penalty shot, St. Columban's Chris
Verberne made no mistake in scoring the
winning goal.
ATOM 11
On August 16 Lunen II came to Dublin
to play St Columban Atom tis in the
preliminary play-off round. St Columban
trounced Liman 6-1. J.D. Nolan and Larry
Kelly both scored 2 goals while Ben Mur-
ray and Adam Nolan added singletons

TOURNAMENT
Both St. Columban Atom teams travell-
ed to Coldstream for their championship
tournament on Saturday, August 19.

St. Columban 11 0
The third and fourth place teams in the
Atom division of the Lucan and District
Soccer League met each other in their
first game of the championship tourna-
ment. St. Columban I won this contest on
Jamie Dick's goal midway through the
second half. Both Mike Murray of the
Atom IIs and Pat Coyne of the Atom Is
played excellent in goal
The Atom Is victory put them into the
"A" championship semi-finals.

Exeter II 2
In the semi-finals St Columban played
first place Exeter II Exeter had only lost
one game all year and that was a 4-3
loss to the St Columban Atom Is.
The regulation game and the 10 minute
overtime produced no scoring by either
club so penalty shots were taken once
again to decide the winner Scott Val,
Dooren, Mark Van Dooren and Jared
Munro scored on their penalty shots, but
only two Exeter players were able to find
a way past St Colurnban's Pat Coyne

The St. Columban Atom Is ran out of
steam playing their third game in four
hours, and Exeter I took the game 3-0,
Gord Dick and John Van Dooren filled
in as coaches for this tournament and did
an admirable job.
Congratulations to both Atom teams on
a successful season and for providing
some entertaining soccer
