The rea- son is that so many places hold their civic holidays on the same date that the companies cannot supply the rolling stock to handle exeureions. On Monday morning, May 13th, at the residence of -her son-in-law, Mr. Adam Smith, there died one of the pioneer settlers of the township of Wallace, in the person of Magdlena Berlet, relict of the late Valentine Berlet, aged 72 years. 8 months and 18 days. Siuoe the death of her husband 18 years ago, Mrs. Berlet has lived with her children in Wallace. Shewas a resident in the township for 46 years, having come back into the bush to take up land with her husband direot- ly after their marriage. The deceased, Magdlena Lentz, was born in Hesse Darmetadt, Germany.
