The flowers for the Village flower beds
will be arriving this week. Anyone in-
terested m helping to plant them and to care
forthe beds this summer can contact one of
the 81 members of the Hensall and District
Horticultural Society
The Society is planning a bus excursion on
June 28 to Larkwhistle on Miller Lake near
Tober•mory. The cost is approximately $35
which includes dinner. The coach will leave
from the United Church parking lot at 7:30
am. If you are interested call Cathy Mann at
263-2343.
New tulip bulbs will be purchased for the
Village. The Horticultural group will be hav-
ing a display at the Hensall Spring Fair
Thank you to the Village Council for the
generous donation towards flowers for the
flower beds this year

yard sale next Saturday. I0 you would like e

home just leave it on the front porch.

Mark Gaskin called the congregation to
worship: followed by a Prayer of Adoration
and the Lord's Prayer
The congregation has become proud and
humble owners of a new piano. Many have
worked long and hard in accomplishing this
. purchase. The old piano. having been in sad
condition, was sold. Jmi Love who is on the
board o" the church gave the opening

Senior morning got underway last Mon-
day at 9 a.m. with 14 golfers taking part.
Winners were: Close to Flag No. 9, Dave
Cornish; No. 5, Ron Bennett; Low Gross.

Low Putts. Bill Crease. On Monday, May 29
Seniors will play regular golf over the front
9 and there will be an extra prize for the
golfer with the least putts.
The ladies night winners of the Calloway
event were Leonore Southgate with a net 64,
Marg Anderson with a net 62, Kim Blake
with•aeiet.63, Rita Core with a net 64

Hymn 307 "The Church's One Founda-
tion" was the first hymn, this chosen by
Mrs. Edith Bell of Exeter who was a former
organist of the church, and played the nee
piano for much of the service. Rev. Gaskin
led in a Prayer of Confession and Pardon
Jim Love and Mrs. Pat Pollock sang a fine
duet. Rev Gaskin led in a Prayer of Il-
lumination and read from the Gospel. The
choir sang an anthem "Higher Ground' •
The sermon was entitled "Jesus Said '1
Am The Way; The Truth and the Life' I Am
the Truth."
The public is asked to remember the Yard
and Bake Sale on May 27. On May "28 the
church will celebrate its 141st Anniversary
Service and the many residents of Hensel.'
and area will be pleased to note that Rev.
George Vais, a former pastor, will be the
guest preacher. It is hoped that many will
attend the service
Advance notice• on June 4 The Lord's
Supper will be celebrated. This will be the
last observance of this sacrament until the

Residents of the Seaforth Manor started
out last week's activities with a visit fron;

Grade 6 visits The integrationaI activity
provided serious checker competition and s
stroll through the Yukon and Alaska
In the afternoon Lorne Lawson celebrated
his 85th birthday with entertainment fron,
Marie Flynn and the Huron Strings. This
was extra special as Lorne used to play the
mouth organ with this group of talented
musicians, Family and friends from as far
away as Newmarket and London visited for
Lorne's birthday. The residents really en-
joyed listening to the music and celebrating

wife. Violawas served, along with ice
cream for the birthday. party. Special
thanks to volunteers Doreen Kelly, Mary
Nolan. Anne Downey and Hazel McGonigle.
Wednesday afternoon residents had ow'
weekly church service led by Rev. Don
Jones They were pleased to welcome him
back. Thursday, was the first day of really
enjoying the gond old outdoors. A patio was
set up by Bill Flanagan. Several residents
took some time to enjoy this lovely weather.
In the afternoon Father Caruana celebrated
mass with residents. Thanks to Sister Mary
Louis for assisting with the service.
We are pleased to welcome new resident
Joe Bugili Also welcome back Cassie
Nicholson from Seaforth Hospital. Get well
wishes are extended to Len Kirkby, Norma
Jeffrey . Anne Crerar and Mel Hulley.

fun night ate Goderich Sunset. All ladies
welcome. May 29 will be a 3 -man scramble
for ladies night. The three ladies must have
a total team handicap of at least 70. So find e

Tuesday there was a 3 -man Scramble tor
Men's Night. The winning team was Carn
Doig, Randy Gilfillan and Peter Czypyhe
with a score of 30. Second place went to Jin;
Watson Jr., Joe Aubin, and Steve Steep with
a 31. Tuesday, May 30 will be regular golf
with net scores to count and a prize for most.

not French. Do not succumb to the pro-
paganda and fear propagated by those
presed4minnauthority. This is one of the
means iis—ed to change the identity of Canada
from an English speaking to a French
speaking nation. ,
More and more people are becoming
disturbed over the situation. Stop the chaos
ahead by stopping "Bill 8" The French
Language Services Act of Ontario. It is an
act shrouded in secrecy and deceit.
French trained agitators, aggressive and
loud, are in every community across
Canada, and not only French Quebecers
Please, in the name of justice and human

"Each of these requirements entails the
recruitment of huge numbers of Fran-
cophones ffom Quebec and from abroad into
our remaining English-speaking provinces,
a flow already underway, Combine those
moves with an imnngration policy which for
twenty years has had the singular. purpose
of closing the doors from the U.S. and U.K.
while flooding Canada with others willing to
accept French as their working language,
and we can see that the days of English-
speaking Canada are, by design, clearly
