Seaforth Mercha
The Seaforth Merchants Senior Mens
Baseball team got its second win of the
season, when it recorded a 6-5 victory over
Strathroy in Strathroy Wednesday night.
"This was a big win for us even though it's
so early in the season," commented Mer-
chant Player/Coach Marc Robinet.
"Strathroy is a good ball team and it was
sweet to take this one from them in their
park."
Robinet noted his players were really
pumped up for this game, and said it showed
in their performances.
"We were aggressive at the plate and on
the base paths, Our pitching was super -
Driscoll with four innings of shut out
baseball, and our defense was also good,
with the exception of a few errors. Overall it
was a good team effort and it means a lot to
us, even this early in the season•"
Robinet himself, started on the around for
the Merchants and went five innings before
being relieved by Scott Driscoll. During that
time he gave up five runs (only two of them
earned) on eight hits, and struek out three
batters and walked two. Driscoll went four
innings in getting his second win against no
defeats this season. He gave up no abuts on
three hits, and struck out five batters and
walked three.
It was a back -and -forth ball game, with
Seaforth taking a 1-0 lead in the second inn-
ing on a John Dale round tripper, then suc-
cumbing to two Strathroy runs in the bottom
half of the same inning.
Seaforth took the lead again in the third,
when John Cairns walked, Jerry Wright
singled, and Joe Aubin bunted the runners
over to second and third. Robinet was safe
on a fielder's choice, scoring one run, and a
single by Gerard Ryan scored the second
run of the inning.
Strathroy scored two runs in their half of
the third inning to take a 4-3 lead, but
Seatorth tied things up.in the fourth, when
Marty Bedard walked, took second on a
