Maplewood
This week the highlight at Maplewood was
the step dancing show on Wednesday even-
ing organized by Sherri McCall.
On Tuesday afternoon four tables were in
action with the card game euchre. Besides
the actual game, it's a good chance to visit
and have some fun.

And -Wednesday evening Sherri McCall's
step.dancingstudents presented a delightful
program. The students not only step danced
but played the piano, the violin or sang. The
performers ranged in ages from 6 to 15.

Devereaux, Brent, Brad and Theresa

to departing activities coordinator
Residents of Seaforth Manor welcomed
Carol Carter on Monday afternoon for her
monthly sing -a -long. Everyone enjoyed the
singing and here piano solos.
On Tuesday morning Grade 6 volunteers
visited with a few of the residents. Checkers
were of key interest!
The weekly church service was held on
Wednesday afternoon with Rev. 'Glen
Sadlier of the Bethel Bible Church. This
Week was extra special because Rev.
Sadlier's wife, Ruth, played the piano and
their children were also a part of the ser-
vice. A special thanks to Mrs. Norris and
Mrs. Gardiner who provided an afternoon
snack of "homemade goodies". Mrs. Gar-
diner also read an inspirational poem.

Pryce, Caroli and Marcy McCall, Lindsey
Anderson, Laura McKereher, Christa Mur-
ray, Jason Dalton, Lindsey Devereaux, Lee
Anne McDonald and Tanya Eckert. We will
be sure to watch CKCO TV on September 16
and 30.when some of these young people will
be on a talent show. Thank you again to
Sherri and her students. It was a very ap-
preciative .crowd that watched the;perfor-

next year.
On Wednesday evening as well, the avid
bingo players were gathered in front of the
TV for. Lion's TV Bingo. Thank you to Anne
Downey and MarjA, Maloney for their
assistance:
Thursday morning Carole Carter. provid-
ed the musical entertaimnent. She .played
all the favorite and requested tunes.
Everyone gets into the spirit of the music
and joins in by singing along.
On Friday afternoon, Ruth Bock called
the numbers for the Maplewood Bingo. The
winners this week were Olive Traviss, Mary
Sharp and Willy Tremeer each winning one
game and Ed John winning two games.
The students from Mrs. Hoelscher's
Grade 6 and 7 class who come Tuesday and
Thursday morrnriwnpggs area tremendous .help.
"Their enthusiasm':letiefits the residents and
staff in many varied ways and it is indeed
nice to have them visit.
A special thank you to Laura Toll whose
thoughtful donation was usedto purchase a
portable whirlpool for the residents. The
whirlpool is providing a luxury that
residents will all enjoy.
Welcome back to May Habkirk after being
in Seaforth 'Community Hospital and to Ed
John who had a brief stay in Clinton Com-
munity Hospital.
'Crime Stoppers program has new coordinator
Facing its second year in operation in
-Huron county, some changes are being
made to the Huron County Crime Stoppers
program.
Constable 'Wayne Moulton, a 24 year
veteran with,the Goderich Ontario Provin-
cial Police detachment, has taken over as
Crime Stoppers co-ordinator. Constable
Moulton replaces Constable Jeff Sabin who
organized Crime Stoppers in the county, and
is now moving on to a community based
:policing assignment.
The Crime Stoppers office has bee,
relocated -from the 'Clinton Police Depart
menttotheGouerichOPPdetachment . Thi
;gives Constable Moulton access to
(Canadian Police ,Information Cents e), a
police computer information system, and in-
sures' that there will be an officer available
to answer Crime Stoppers calls at all times.
'Reviewing "Crime Stoppers' success to
date in :Huron, Constable Moulton notes
there have been 74 Zartistantiater1 calls 2,4
cases ;solved, and .12 arrests made as a
result of the program. $15;000 in stolen pro -
Pert' has beensecovered, and $222 in illegal
drugs confiscated. The program has paid
out$575:in rewardmone:

Constable Moulton noted the. majority of

Elmer Bakscy, Maria Goovaerts,Mamie
Ross and Pat Ryan enjoyed a delicious meal
at the Northsdie Luncheon on Wednesday
afternoon. Volunteer Doreen Kelly assisted
with the outing.
The highlight of Thursday was the after-
noon euchre with the volunteer ladies.
Lucky winners were: mens high - Pat Ryan,
ladies high - Edith Salo, lone hands - Ed
Dunn, mens low - Frank Smale and ladies
low - Doris Smith. Special thanks to Mary
Nolan who supplied a lovely sandwich tray
and to Doreen Kelly for donating the prizes.
Friday afternoon residents and staff
gathered to send best wishes to Darlene
Friesen, Activity Coordinator as she ven-
tures off to Markham, Ontario.
Lily Bindle celebrated her birthday on
May 9.
Get well wishes are extended to Madeline
Slattery, Cassie Nicholson, Lew Kirkby and
Norma ,Jeffery.
