Only 40 fish were taken from Lions Park Pond by the young fishermen who took part in the trout derby from about 7:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. Larry Dohnage, a member of the Seaforth Sportsmen's Club and an organizer of this event, says the fish just weren't biting on the cold, cloudy Satur- day, and 40 caught fish is the lowest number ever. "Last year by 10 o'clock they had 80 fish caught," remarked Mr. Dolmage. But the day was a success for Sean Anstett of Seaforth, who caught the biggest fish Saturday when he pulled in a trout 28 centimeters long. In spite of the poor weather there was lit- tle lack of participation in the trout derby, as 113 entrants tried their luck. Fishing at the pond continued Sunday, and has carried on each day since the der- by started. And there are still a lot of fish to be had. 306 fish were put in including 300 from 10 to 12 inches in length, another five of 14 to 16 inches long, and Dave Hedley threw in one five pounder from his fish farrn in Wingham.
