Residents always enjoy keeping time:to:the'music with their toe or clapping tteirtiands. For those that are a little more agile &danee or two is often enjoyed. 'Tuesday 'morning residents enjoyed the weekly visit from several of the Grade 6 students. In the afternoon, residents viewed theinovie, "Tough Guys" and found it to be -quiteamusing. ,On Wednesday mornings, when the hair- dresser makes her weekly visits, residents are appreciating the manicures and :assistance that Bev Eisler is volunteering to come in and do. Father Caruana was in on Thursday after- noon to have mass with the Roman Catholic. Residents. Sister Mary Louise was also along to assist in the service. Transplanting was on the agenda for Fri- day morning. Some of the seeds that were planted several weeks ago were getting quite tall so they were transplanted into pots more appropriate to their size. In the afternoon residents were pleased to have Gladys Van Egmond and Elgin Nott in to provide some favorite old tyme music• selections. Not only did residents have the opportunity to sing along to some of their favorites. but enjoyed several dances as well. The Harmony Kings Barbershop Show was thoroughly enjoyed on Saturday after- noon. by several of the residents. They cer tainly appreciated the generosity of the group's giving of complimentary tickets. Thought of the week "Laughter is a tran- quilizer with no side effects Arnold H. Thank you to Bet- ty Mclver for loaning her videos. On Frida} , the Queensway Agriculture Club was taken on a tour of Penhales Wagon and Harness shop. It was a very interesting afternoon as Tom Penhale showed beautiful completed carriages and those in the begin- rung stages. Residents also saw pictures of carriages shipped to Hawaii and California. They met Mr. Penhales master carver, who does the intricate carvings on the wagons, and also produces carved replicas of horses. They had a delightful time made possible by Mr. Penhale and volunteer drivers Eileen Rannie, Helen Anderson and Carol Gascho. . Coming events are; April 27 at 2 pm the Birthday Party with entertainment by the Huron Strings. and May 7 at 2 pm "Dog Obe- dience Demonstration" by Robert Johnston of London. residents to embark on. trips This week at Maplewood Manor markeu the start of "day 'trips' anu excursions -again for this year. On Monday afternoon. residents and volunteers went to the Huron County Museum in Goderich. The new addition is very bright and spacious. The tour guide was helpful by explaining the displays; as were many of the residents who Were able to • give additional information and details about various articles. At the completion of the tour scones with preserves and tea were served. Residents are all looking forward to going again next year when the renovations will be complete and included in the museum displays will be the shoe repair equipment that was used by Jack Thompson of Seaforth. . Residents are pleased to welcome Rob Argyle to Maplewood. He is a co-op student from Seaforth District High School and he will be working at Maplewood' for eight weeks. Tuesday afternoon residents played Abe game of UNO.33ecause this game can allow any number to play. it is lots of fun as eight or nine people gather around .one table. After UNO, the favorite game of euchre was played Wednesday morning, Pastor Sadler and members of the Bethel Bible congregation came to Maplewood for the church service. Lola McGonigle, Mr. and Mrs. Mervin Lobb of Clinton and Mrs. Ward were the parishioners who helped. After the service' they spent time visiting with the residents. Wednesday evening Anne Downey helped the residents with Lions TV Bingo. There were no winners, but May Habkirk was just one number away from the big jackpot. Good luck next week. On Thursday morning two students from Mrs. Hoelscher's Grade 6 and 7 class at Seaforth Public School came to Maplewood. Because of the beautiful sunny day the ride through the countryside was especially en- joyable.
