In 1986 the Seaforth chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star approached the Florence Nightingale Home Foundation, Order of the Eastern Star regarding a donation of equipment to the Seaforth hospital. The Hospital administrator com- piled a list of equipment the hospital re- quired, along with the price of each item, and gave it to the Order of the Eastern Star. The list was then forwarded to the Florence Nightingale Home Foundation for its consideration, and on January 4, 1989, the Seaforth Order was notified the committee had authorized the purchase of equipment for the hospital. receives equipment ...this MOTHER'S DAY and all year long! The equipment donated includes a rehabilitation trainer, which is a piece of equipment not unlike an exercise bike, but it is useable for the upper or lower body, and it keeps track of the patient's pro- gress. It is valued at $1,325. A second item is a Bobath table, which is a broad, padded table which electrically may be moved up and down. The Bobath table is used in training stoke victims or patients with neurological disorders, and is worth $2,325. The third piece of equipment is the manual muscle tester, which is used to show pa- tients how treatment increases their strength. It costs $775. This equipment was officially received at the phsiotherapy department on Thurs- day, when officials from the Florence Nightingale Home Foundation and the Seaforth Chapter of the Order of the EQUIPMENT DONATED - The Seaforth community hospital recently received about $4,500 in rehabilitation equipment for its physiotherapy department, was donated by the Florence Nightingale Home Foundation. Canvass results not available Results of the Seaforth Community Hospital door-to-door canvass are not yet available. Chairman of the Fundraising Committee, Marlen Vincent, says only about 20 per cent of the canvasser's kits have been completed and handed back to the canvass organizers, and he feels it is premature to release dollar figures at this time. "We're trying to wind this canvass up as fast as we can, but people are dragging their feet," said Mr. Vincent. The canvass, which began on March 28, was supposed to last two weeks, but is now entering its fifth week. Organizers are hop- ing to have the canvass 100 per cent com- pleted within the next two weeks. But while the door-to-door campaign nears completion, the fundraising campaign in general is in full swing and will be ongo- ing for some time. Mr. Vincent says Seaforth businessmen are now being asked for contributions, letters soliciting dona- tions' are being, sent -to corporations which have branches in Seabftofth, and a list of former residents of the'Seaforth area is be- ing drafted to request their support. If there are people who were missed in the door-to-door canvass who want to make a donation, Mr. Vincent would encourage them to contact him at 527-0120 or 527-0373.
