Mcllwraith photo. Optimists finalize student exchange The Seaforth Optimist Club members have had a busy time lately and it appears they're going to be getting even busier. The Travel the World wine and cheese party was a big success with over 60 door prizes awarded, Bob Nash from Seaforth won the early bird draw of $300; Bill Pinder won the draw for $100; and the $50 draws went to Shirley Dinsmore and Bob O'Brien. It is hoped this will become an annual event in conjunction with the Travel the World draw. As reported in last week's paper the canoe races drew a good crowd to watch as 22 boats travelled the Bayfield River. Because of a new class "solo" and the low number of entries, the club lost about $60 on the races themselves, but did manage to offset this with the return of the chefs and a great breakfast cooked at the Van Egmond house. Special thank yous go to the Van Egmond Foundation for the use of their facilities and the help of their members. A $50 donation will be made to the foundation on behalf of the Optimist Club. Also thanks to the U.A.P. store for the. use of their window in pro- moting the canoe draw and race; the Fire Department for use of their van and Seaforth Optimist Club's help in acquiring draw tickets. Discussion took place on this year's Mardi Gras to be held May 27. This year will see a barbecue added as the club feels it's time to expand to include all ages and groups.
