The Egmondville United Church Women
met on April 2 with Wanda Dietz in charge.
A thought on "April" opened the meeting.
Wanda introduced guest speaker, Faye
Carnochan, who spoke and showed slides of
her recent trip to Kenya. Faye was invited
to Kenya to attend her roommate's wed-
ding. She described the customs of the
Moslem family, who spend four days
preparing for the wedding with different
rituals each day, as do the groom's family.
Faye also showed colorful slides of the coun-
tryside and the animals from buffalo to
monkeys, also many colorful birds. Some of
Kenya's exports are tea and sugar cane. She
said people were either very rich or very
poor. Members enjoyed Faye's commen-
tary as she described going along on the
wedding trip with several others on a Safari.
Faye is studying at McMaster University
and Mohawk College in occupational
therapy. She is on the Cross -Country track
team for the college and received top award
for her academic and athletic skills. Wanda
thanked Faye and everyone wishes her well
on her final term at university.
Several upcoming events included Thank -
offering at First Church - April 13 with
James Sampa, guest speaker. Stratford
Event - April 18 at 6:30 p.m. with Rev.
Cheryl -Anna Stadelbauer-Sampa as guest
speaker, Tea and Bake Sale at Walton
United from 2 to 4 p.m.
It was moved by Cheryl -Mm, seconded by
Doris, that $100 be donated to Liaison Com-
mittee for church camps.
A shower honoring Darlene Moore will be
held on May 1 at church at 8:15 p.m.
The evening closed with lunch served by
Thelma's group,
Seaforth Ladies Aid to
The Ladies Aid of First Presbyterian
Church Seaforth, held its meeting on Tues-
day, April 4. President Mary Riley, opened
the meeting with prayer and a reading
"Sugar Weather". Roll call was to hand in a
four line verse containing the words "Ladies
Aid". Verses are to be judged and will be
read at the next meeting. Eight members
were present.
The group received an invitation from the
Walton Church, to attend their Spring tea
and bake sale on April 21. Alice Rei,+ �� t

Luella Montgomery were in charge of devo-
tionals, with Luella reading the Scriptures
and giving prayer, and Alice giving the
meditation, a reading entitled "Springtime"
by John Beattie, and an account of the life of "
Frances Riddley Havergfll, who composed
many of the hymns.
A word game was played and lunch serv-
ed by Alice and Luella. Roll call for next
month is to bring a small Canadian -made
object.
BIRTHS
WEBSTER - John and Linda are happy to
announce the birth of their first child, Jan-
son Scott, born Thursday, April 6, 1989, at
Scarborough Centenary Hospital. Proud
grandparents are Gordon Miller of Mit-
chell and Jack and Helene Webster of
Toronto.
MURRAY - Mary -Lou and Allan are pleas-
ed to announce the birth of their first child,
a daughter, Andrea Diane, born on March
31, 1989 and weighing 9 lbs., 4 ozs. Proud
grandparents are John and Nellie Jansen
and Tom and Maddie Murray, all of
Seaforth.
SPENCE - Dave and Patti (nee Muegge
are pleased to announce the birth of their
son, Derek William Gordon, born March 8,
1989. A wee brother for Daniel and
Meaghan. Proud grandparents are Mr.
and Mrs. William Spence of RR 6 St.
Marys and Marie Muegge of Seaforth.
Great grandparents are Myrtle Brock of
Exeter, Anna Hoegy of Mitchell and Mr.
and Mrs. David Spence of St. Marys.
DOLMAGE
Doug and Karen Dolmage are thrilled to
announce the birth of their son Derek
James. He arrived on March 30, weighing in
at 9 lbs. 101/2 ounces, a wee brother for
Dawn. Derek is the 19th grandchild for Roy
and Pearl Dohnage of RR 1 Londesboro and
the third grandchild for Don and Verna
Jackson of Goderich.
OBITUARIES
CHARLES J.BOYD
The funeral of Charles J. Boyd was held
on Tuesday, April 4, 1989, at the Whitney-
Ribey Funeral Home. Reverend Mervyn
Reuber of Stratford, conducted the
service.
Pallbearers were sons-in-law, Ross
Fisher of Goderich, Joe Walton of Barrie,
and Ted Bergey of Mississauga; grand-
sons, Paul Fisher of Cambridge and Andy
Walton of Barrie; and friend, Nyle Elmer
of Zolfo Springs, Florida. Burial will be in
Maitland Bank Cemetery.
CLAIR HANEY
Clair Haney of Los Alamitos, California,
died at his residence on Sunday, April 9,
1989. He was 65.
Born in Tuckersmith Township in 1923, he
was a son of the late Matthew and Bella
Haney.
He is survived by his wife Ann; daughters
Lynne, Shirty and Laurie of California; and
sons, Chuck of London, Ontario, David,
Craig, Colin and Clair Jr. of California, Cam
of Colorado and Curtis of Washington State.
Also surviving are two brothers, Warden
and Lloyd of Tuckersmith; one sister Esther
of Calgary; and 16 grandchildren.
Mr. Haney was predeceased by his first
wife Mildred (Finnigan t in 1971.
A memorial servieW Will be held at Long
Beach, Californiaron Wednesday. Following
cremation, a burial at sea by his family will
take place.
In lieu of flowers; donations may by made
to the Canadian Lung Associa' or Lie
charity of one's choice.
THE SEAFORTH COMMUNITY HOSPITAL construction is going well, and rough -in
work, including installation of plumbing, electrical wiring and medical gases, will be
done by next week. Drywallers start Monday, and it is expected their job will take a
month: Contractor Melloul Blamey spokesmen say the construction is still a week to 10
days ahead of schedule. The hospital door to door canvass will soon be completed,
and when this is completed canvassers will turn to former residents and corporations.
