Corbett photo Foodland Ontario shared cost grant expanded Changes to the Foodland Ontario Shared Cost Grant Program will provide greater in- centives to a wider range of producer and processor groups and the food service in- dustry for the promotion of their products, Under the changes, the ministry will pro- vide start-up costs which will allow smaller producer and processor groups an oppor- tunity to engage in more substantial promo- tion and market research activities. Other key activities such as the development of marketing plans, participation in trade shows, and product identification with the Foodland Ontario logo will also be assisted. "The agriculture and food industry could sell local products even more successfully through more vigorous marketing," said Ontario Minister of Agriculture and Food, Jack Riddell. "This program helps to foster a better appreciation for the role and impor- tance of marketing techniques." Currently food, non-food and food service groups spend over $4 million on shared cost projects, $850.000 of which is funded through the program. The .program was introduced in 1977 and provides grants to offset the costs of adver- tising, promotion, and market research, New criteria and program guidelines will be forwarded to existing Shared Cost Pro- gram participants. For those groups cur- rently not involved in the program, com- plete details and all necessary forms can be obtained from: Ms. Barbara Stumpf Market Development Branch Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food 33 Yonge Street, Suite 800 Toronto, Ontario M7A 1A6 IRLIS THURSDAY -SATURDAY SEAFORTFB & DISTRACT I.
