A film strip, Mandella, was shown by
Lillian Don • as and Lucie Milne, It focussed
on the lives of women in South Africa where
the women and children have to live on the
reserves while the father lives and works in
town. Most women not only have to. look
after the children, but also have to do all the
farming. In order to support their families
some mothers have to leave them at home
while they go to town to work as domestics.
Some domestics have formed a workers'
organization to bargain with employers and
the government. Some have also joined
their husbands to fight apartheid and have
resisted strongly the government's at-
tempts to make them carry pass books
which limit their movement in the area.
The .meeting closed with the hymn, And
Can It Be, and an Easter Benediction.
