Maplewood -residents
go'shopping for spring
This week at Maplewood Manor, beautiful
Easter lilies arrived every day and soon the
entrances and lounges looked lovely and
were filled with the spring-like fragrance.
On Monday afternoon, Hewitt Fashions
set up their "store" in Maplewood's front
lounge. Residents browsed through the
items of clothing and tried outfits on. Many
found new spring outfits. On May 27 we will
be having our spring fashion show and sale
with Geri Fashion of London. Everyone is
welcome.
Thank you to Anne Robinson, a busy
Grade 13 student at Seaforth District High
School, who took time on Monday to come to
Maplewood ane decorate a window. She
painted a delightful Easter scene of a little
boy gathering eggs that the Easter bunny
had left.
'Tuesday afternoon three tables of euchre
were in action. What a lot of laughs and fun
they had.
:On Wednesday morning Rev. Henderson
from Exeter conducted the ministerial ser-
vice in the upstairs lounge. Thank you to
Mrs. Brown for playing the piano and to Bob
McMillan for introducing the minister. The
residents enjoyed listening to Rev.
Henderson.
Wednesday afternoon the Huron County
Health Unit provided foot care for the
Seaforth area. The weather was very co-
operative and many took advantage of the
special service offered. Although the foot
care was the main reason for coming to
Maplewood there was a lot of visiting being
done and that is particularly appreciated.

Thank you to the students of Mrs.
Hoelscher's Grade 6 and 7 class. They came
to Maplewood on Tuesday and Thursday
morning and visited with residents and
played crokinole.
On Thursday morning Carole Carter
came to Maplewood and played the piano
for the residents. They sang along with the
Easter hymns and spring time melodies. It
is always a pleasure having Carole fill
Maplewood with music. After she leaves,
everyone comes to dinner humming the
songs.
Thank you to Mrs. Laycox who kindly
looked after Maplewood's wayward kitty.
Pumpkin went wandering and ended up on
Market Street. Fortunately, Pumpkin wears
a name tag on her collar and Mrs. Laycox
called to say she had a visiting orange cat.
With Easter weekend's weather being
perfect, many visitors came to Maplewood
and also many residents went out to visit
relatives and friends. On Sunday,
Maplewood was colorfully decorated in
yellow and mauve including the flowers on
the tables. At breakfast Easter morning,
personalized colored eggs were served.
Because residents went to church, Easter
dinner was served later than usual. Ross
Scott said grace. Then a delicious ham din-
ner was served and finished with pumpkin
pie and elderberry tarts.
Sincere sympathy to the family of Mary
Chapple. She was a helpful, caring
volunteer for us since December 1986. She
will be greatly missed.
Happy Birthday to Edgit Allan who
celebrated his 90th birthday on March 26.

On Monday afternoon Carol Carter was in
to lead Seaforth Manor residents in singing
.some of their favorite Easter hymns. Carol
also played several selections on the piano
for the resident's listering enjoyment. They
.all appreciate her regular visits to the
Manor.
On Tuesday morning several of the ladies
gathered together to ice the cookies they
had baked previously, These cookies were
later served at a special event on the
weekend.
Several Grade 6 students also visited and
played games with some of the residents
that morning. In the afternoon a travelogue
on the Holy Land was presented by Marjorie
Phillips. Residents found the slides, as well
as the artifacts from her trip, very
interesting.
Wednesday morning some indoor garden -
.mg work was clone as several ladies worked
on repotting some of their plants. In the
afternoon, the weekly church service was

thoroughly enjoyed the program put on by
the step dancers that Sherri McCall teaches.
The children performed various talents to
the residents through step dancing, singing
and piano playing.
