Seaforfh had a lot of scoring oppor- toms tunnies in the game; but was beaten.by solid goaltending by a 2-1 score. Following the game they still led the series two games to one. Corbett photo dvance to fin& OM The Atoms hosted Ridgetown on Saturday for the third game of the semi-fmal OMHA playdowns. The fans saw lots of back -and - forth hockey with little goalscoring, in all three periods. The first goal wasn't scored until the last three minutes of May in the first period when Ridgetown netted the puck. At the 11:06 mark of the second, Seaforth evened the score. I,t was still anybody's game with la tie score going into the third period. However, at the halfway mark of the third period. Ridgetown took the lead scor- ing the winning goal. The Seaforth team tried hard to even it up but couldn't get the puck past the Ridgetown goalie. The final score was 2 to 1 Ridgetown. The Seaforth team travelled to Ridgetown on Sunday for the fourth game of the series. Seaforth was leading the series two games to one, so a win for Seaforth would advance the local boys to the final OMHA playdowns. After a scoreless first period, the Seaforth guys put the first goal on the scoreboard at the 8:41 mark, They netted another before the end of the second to end the period with a two goal lead. , The Seaforth boys were out for a big win in A playdowns the third period when they scored three more goals between the 7:13 mark and 5:14 mark of the period. Ridgetown remained scoreless until the last 34 seconds of the game, when they netted their only goal of the game. The final score was 5 to 1. Seaforth will probably have to wait for a few days before they will know who their op- ponents are. They last unofficial report is Bracebridge or Oshweken. Parr Line edge Royals 1-0 in men's broomball MEN'S BROOMBALL ROYALS 0 -PARR LINE I Paul Gibbings got the rebound shot from Ed Salverda and Craig Pilt wound''up, shot and scored a great goal. The Royals never got a break with all the shots they had on net EASY RIDERS 2 -DUMPERS 3 Bill Dale had a break away and was able to deke the goalie with a flip shot over his head. A neat goal by Brett Finlayson,..who fired a quick shot and scored. For the Easy Riders Wayne Gingerich took a slap shot and scored. The real Ben Driscoll shot a back hand shot and put the ball into the net off a great pass from Bill Brown Jr. The second goal was by Bob Henderson with back up from Blain Marks and Ben Driscoll. With eight seconds into the game Jeff Campbell taps the ball and scored. Tony Arts achieved 2 goals with assistance from Bob Jansen, mighty Ken Decorte proved it can be done. He scored off a great pass from Ron Finlayson. RED RUSTLERS 0-WINTHROP 2 Three feet in front of opposing goalie Fred McClure shot and scored with a little help from Ross Mitchell. From one end of the ice to the other Dave Leonhardt contributed to a superb goal, thanking Jim Scott for the pass. Red Rustler's energy was overwhelm- ing, but they lacked in goal scoring. LADIES' BROOMBALL PERTH 3 -JR. FARMERS 0 Joya Dow's lucid shooting gained her two goals, in this contest. An assist came from Julie Lewis who also contributed a goal off a pass by Nancy Youngblut. Hang on Jr. Farmers, the season's not over yet. QUEENS 0 -PARR LINE 1 Minutes are left in the game when Sandra Wilson shot and had the fortunate break. The ball deflected off of new Queens defenceman B.E. Helping Sandra was Dianne Shapton. The Queens played well but could not score. In ladies' broomball tonight at 8 p.m. Win- throp vs. Queens and at 8:60 p.m. Perth vs. Commercial. Teams were from Seaforth, Mt. Carmel, Dublin and Zurich, which includes Separate Schools in the Seaforth Knights of Columbus area. The schools vied for Junior "A" and "B" trophies while the Seniors vied for the Senior `;A" and '.`B" .trophies. 'The trophies are .donated by the Father Stephen Eckert Council and remain one SCOREBOARD The Commercial Bowling League play- offs started on March 16. Dublin Green won by shots on goal, 8-5 .in third period. Game 4, Dublin 5, Zurich Gold Seaforth 6, Mt. Carmel 2; game 6 Zurich Gold 5, Dublin Green 2. Zurich Gold won consolation "8" trophy and Seaforth won the "A" championship trophy. In the Senior Tournament the trophy win- ners were "A" championship, Dublin White. The "B" Championship went to Dublin Green who won by shots on goal for the con- solation trophy. Games were: Zurich 5, Mt. Carmel 1: Dublin White 2, Dublin Green 1; Seaforth 4. Zurich 3; Dublin Green 2, Mt. Carmel 2 Dublin White 3, Seaforth 0. The Knights of Columbus of Seaforth and area would like to thank all participants, at- tendance by members and all those atten- ding these annual tournaments for the youth of the area schools which helped in making this 23rd tournament a success. Team standings now are Ramblers 58, Hondas 53, Mustangs 38, Wild Cats 34'rs, Subarus 2521 and Toyotas 22. There were 31 bowlers present. There will be no bowling on Good Friday.
