This is Saturday, March 17. Thursday, March 16 is the monthly Meeting of the Branch at 8 p.m. The month of March meeting is the nomination meeting. The Nomination Committee has been charged with bringing in an Executive for the Branch, but all nominations will be accepted from the floor as well. President 14e1 would like to see a good number of the q embers at this meeting. .The Peewee hockey teams are playing in the Goderich Young Canada hockey tourna- Nifty Knitters make dyed woo The third meeting of McKillop No. 1's rrtNifty Knitters" 4-11 club was held on -February 21, 1989 at the Bennett's home. /The pledge was recited and the roll call was •linswered. The two youths leaders presented lee - Tures. Mary Lou Stewart lectured on wool 54nd Pam Bennett on the process from wool 'hto yarn. Samples of raw wool and spun wool Fere shown. Different types of wool and 4leaning techniques were read over from -the booklets and discussed. Home activities ° 'ere explained. For the remainder of the 'sheeting, the experienced knitters helped the beginners with their second sample. con. 'Misting of increasing and decreasing. The hostesses served refreshtnents after the Meeting was closed. '"'The fourth meeting of the Nifty Knitters ,- wool club was held March 7,19t9 at Con - 'ilia McClure's home. The meeting was call - &d to order and the pledge was recited. The r'rollcall was answered. First samples of worsted and woolen yarns were identified and discussed. Block- ang and sewing up seams in knitted articles =were demonstrated. Mary Lou Stewart and ,JF -'am Bennett presented and demonstrated 0n the topic of dyeing. The members par- ticipated by making dyed samples. Other 'business was discussed and the meeting was closed. Ladies Aid :embers 'o create verse Jc; Tate, °'Ladies ,itid";o£,First, Presbyterian Church held its monthly meeting on Tues - .day, March 7 with eight members present. President Mary Riley opened the meeting -with Prayer and gave a reading "The &Weather Prophet", Alice Reid gave the itreasurer's report and consented to be ticket convenor for the Spring luncheon on May 2. Members are invited to Northside Church for their Spring Thankoffering on March 20 at 8 p.m. Dorothy Scott gave a commentary and readings on "The beautiful church win- dows", also "Forgiving and forgiven". Dorothy McCluskie gave the Scripture and Prayer, then a game of "Quick Wit", was conducted by Dorothy Scott. The Senior cards on Monday afternoon, after a rather slow start, are proving quite popular now. We hope everyone is enjoying the afternoon. Remember all seniors are welcome. The Senior Games committee has come up with a schedule of events for the months of April and May and the final program set for Exeter and surrounding communities on Monday and Tuesday June 26 and 27. The first sport will be Alley Bowling at the Starlight Lanes Friday, April 14 at 1:30 p.m. Bridge, Euchre and Darts will be held at the Branch in April and the beginning of May. Replies havo, been coming in about the Drumhead Service for July and all indica- tions point to a parade the size a District . meeting might have, We hope the weather will be favorable for that day. Mr. and Mrs. Don Kyle of Chilliwack, British Columbia, graduated recently from the Technical University of Nova Scotia, Halifax, with his Bachelor of Engineering degree with Distinction in Civil Engineering. Previous to this he gained his Bachelor of Science degree and Certificate in Engineering from Mount Allison University, Sackville, New Brunswick. Scott is the grandson of Mrs. Mabel and the late Emerson Kyle of Kip - pen, and of Mrs. Alice and the late Earl Thiel of Zurich.
