On Monday morning Dr. Hoke, podiatrist from Stratford provided foot care for the residents. With his special equipment he can alleviate many foot problems. Thank you to Anne Downey and Betty Hulley for oversee- ing the clinic. Tuesday morning Rev. Gilson conducted the weekly ministerial service. The residents enjoyed his message and visit. Tuesday afternoon residents gathered in the dining room for weekly euchre. It is a popular card game and one that provides some friendly rivalry among players. They helped write thank you notes, take residents for walks outside, residents join in with scheduled activities and by cheering up many residents with a visit. Thursday morning a large group of music lovers gathered in the upstairs lounge. Carole Carter played the piano and sang and everyone had a great time. It is such a popular activity that more song books had to be ordered. On Thursday evening the Lioness came to Maplewood and organized an evening of euchre. The winners of the games were Eden Vivian - ladies' high, Arnold Lamont - men's high, Anna Agar - ladies' lone hands, Pete Tremeer - men's lone hands, Willie Tremeer - men's low and Olive Travis - lucky cup. Following euchre the ladies served Sing -along highlights week Fun and Fitness started a new week of ac- tivities at Seaforth Manor. The highlight of Monday was a sing -along in the afternoon with volunteer, Carol Carter. Carol played several selections for the residents' listen- ing pleasure. As well as for the residents to sing along to, residents certainly appreciate her musical talents. On Tuesday morning student volunteers from Seaforth Public School were in the visit and read to several of the residents. In the afternoon residents worked on some trivia and word games. Everyone felt they had done a remarkable job when they found 55 words with the letters of the word SPR- INGTIME. Along the theme of springtime, Margaret Smale recited part of the poem Daffodils by William Wordsworth. refreshments and muffins. Thank you to the ladies of the Lioness group. It is pleasant evenings like this one that make the winter seem shorter. On Friday afternoon Ruth Bock was in charge of Maplewood bingo. The winners off the prizes were Elsie Shaddiek, Ethel Col- eman, Ann Agar and May Habkirk who won two games. GRADUATES F The weekly church service was held on Thursday morning with Rev. Greg Gilson in charge. In the afternoon, residents enjoyed having Marie Flynn and the Huron Strings orchestra play for old trine music and danc- ing. A request that always seems to be popular at the dances is the bird dance. For those that can't get up to dance they enjoy keeping time to their old favorites. On Saturday afternoon the residents met for their March Resident Council meeting. It is great to see such an active group of residents. Also on Saturday, the last stitches were put into the baby quilt. Thank you to volunteers Anne Downey and Eva McCart- ney who helped to complete it. Queensway choir practising for performance Rest Home residents worked out at fun and fitness in the activity room Monday while several nursing home ladies enjoyed coffee hour in the sun room. Kippen United Church Women ladies were here in the afternoon to assist with their last bingo of the month. Residents will really mass their help and their cheerful visits. Reverend Rogers of the Exeter Pentecostal Church led the Tuesday after- noon worship service. Joyce Pepper was volunteer pianist. Several residents gathered for Library Hour, Wednesday afternoon. They quietly browsed through books and magazines while listening to their favorite Don Messer music in the background. A very relaxing afternoon. Thursday evening residents viewed the film "All Star Country Music Fair". It was an excellent taping of a country and western concert in Kentucky with many of our residents' favorite singers. Choir practice took place Friday after- noon. Choir members are learning several new songs, some of them Easter songs. Thank you to Joyce Pepper, loyal volunteer pianist. Coming events at Queensway are March 8 at 6 p.m. a trip to Thorndale Theatre Pro- duction of "Dear Phoebe"; March 10 at 6:30 - p.m. a presentation of Poland by Rosemary Scott; March 17 at 7 p.m. St. Patrick's party with George Mathonia and Ivan Norris. RON GODKIN, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lavern Godkin of RR 1 Walton, having successfully completed .the uniform final examinations, took part in the Annual Con- vocation Ceremony of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario, held in Toronto on February 18, 1989. Ron is a former graduate of the Honors Bachelor of Business Administration Program at Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo and Seaforth District High School. He is employed with Deloitte, Haskins and Sells, Chartered Accountants in London. Atten- ding the Convocation Ceremony were his parents, his wife Lynne, and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Don Dodds of RR 1 Seaforth. BIRTHS REGELE - Brian Kenneth welcomed his new brother Christian Matthew into his family on February 23, 1989, born at Strat- ford General Hospital at 2:13 p.m., weighing 9 lbs., 12 ozs. Parents are Charles and Carol Anne Regele of Dublin. Grandparents are Ken and Anne Williamson of Walton, and Harry and Luella Regele of Dublin.' A baby brother for Jennifer and a grandson for Tom and Jean Tower of Hensall and Adrian and Ina Timmermans of Kippen. OBITUARIES CAROL GEDDES Carol Geddes of Seaforth, died Wednes- day, February M, 1989 at the Seaforth Com- munity Hospital. She was 49. Born at Clinton on August 9, 1939, she was a daughter of James Cameron and the former Marie Coutts. Surviving besides her parents are her hus- band Charles: two daughters, Sheila Schen- ck of Seaforth and Pamela Ryan of Dublin; and three sons, Gordon of Edmonton, Alber- ta, Douglas of London and Paul of Vancouver. Also surviving are grandchildren, Ken- dall, Kelly, Sarah, Adam, Racheal, Tiffany and Travis. A memorial service was held February 26 at the Egmondville United Church. Reverend Cheryl -Ann Stadelbauer-Sampa officiated. As expressions of sympathy donations may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society or the Seaforth Community Hospital. Corrected Version FRANKLIN PHILLIPS Franklin Phillips of Seaforth, died Wednesday, February 22, 1989 at Children's Hospital, London. He was three months and 27 -days -old. Surviving are his mother, Linda Phillips, father Brian Phillips, sisters Mae and Tina and grandparents Gordon and Grace Overholt of Goderich and Bud and Dorthy Phillips of Bothwell. GAIL VIVIAN MCCLYMONT Gail Vivian McClymont of Guelph, died Wednesday, March 1, 1989 at her home. She was 45. Born in Clinton, she was a daughter of the late Abe and Lillian Orpen. She is survived by her husband Bob of Guelph, daughter Shannon of London and son Mike and his wife Lee Ann of Guelph. Also surviving are her husband's parents, Fred and Mabel McClymont of Clinton; and in-laws Mary and Don Barker of King City, Ivan and Mar; Mef (yrnont of Varna and Margaret of Willowdale, and Joan and Nick Whyte of Seaforth. Funeral services were held on March 3 at the McIntyre and Wilkie Funeral Home, Guelph. The Reverend Jean Wright officiated. Pallbearers were nephews, Lorne Barker, Glenn Barker, Dave Whyte, Brian Whyte and Murray Whyte.
