Farmers' Week There are definite implications for all farmers in 1989. If there is adequate rain- fall, a better growing season, yields will be up. Large yields may well lead to dramatic shifts in prices of all crops. Livestock pro- duction will also be affected. Farmers need to look at their Business and increase their ability to adapt. 1t is now into March and many farm operations are preparing to file their income tax returns. It is also very important to do a production and financial analysis of the business Farmers must identif\ their strengths and weaknesses For over40 years the University of Guelph and O.M.A.F have prepared the Farm Anaive,c Prnier, Conornl nnnntie' in On tario prepare county enterprise summaries. Huron has prepared county reports for a number of years. it is most meaningful to compare farms to county commodity surveys. The Farm Management staff at the Huron O.M.A.F. office are prepared to assist in summarizing farm operations. With tax records, inventory and production figures in hand, a short visit will put things in motion The result will be a confidential computer analysis of farm operation With followup discussion and comparison to county averages, farmers should see a number of ways to strengthen their operation.
