FEBRUARY 22. 1989 — 17A Seaforth WI members enlightened or food poisoning incidents The Family and Consumers Affairs meeting of the Seaforth Women's Institute was held at the home of Thelma Dale, with Olive Papple in the chair. Mrs. Papple opened the meeting with a poem. The roll call was name an article us- ed in a pioneer kitchen. The minutes and correspondence were read including a letter from the FWIO. President Doris Hugill, was in charge of the program and introducd the speaker, Jack McKinnon, Huron County public health food inspector, for hospitals, restaurants, schools and all public eating places. He said there were 700,000 cases of food poisoning in Canada last year. He showed a film on food safety, and sanitation, food preparation, thawing and cooking, contamination, safe cooking and heating, followed by a very in- teresting discussion period. Doris read the motto "A good Mother is worth a hundred school masters" also a Valentine poem. Audrey Cameron gave the courtesy remarks and a lunch of muffins and jams was served by the hostess and lunch committee. The Glitter Knitters range from the ages of 12 to 17 and are determined to show everyone, just what they can do! The leaders of the 4-H group, "Working With Wool"; Sharen Park, Joan Tabbert and Caroline Klaver are going to begin this 4-H season by teaching the girls about wool (how it's processed and how to knit). The skills learned will later be put to use, doing a project of the girl's choice. At thefirst meeting an executive was elec- ted.
