The Women's Missionary Society of Knox
Presbyterian Church, Cranbrook, met at the
home of Mrs. Murray Crawford for their
February meeting.
The president Mrs. Stuart Stevenson
opened the meeting and a reading on the
theme "love" was given by Mrs. Leslie
Knight, Following a hymn, two interesting
readings, "The Church's Mission" and "The
meaning of Ash Wednesday", were given by
the leader. All joined in reading John 15:
12-17 and prayer.
Current news items on "Problems in
South Africa" were read and discussed, also
on "Poverty". The business included the
discusses
minutes, recording cauls and visits, roll call
which was a verse on "love". The
Presbyterial visitor is to be Mrs. Gordon
Alexander of Listowel. The World Day of
Prayer service March 3 will be held et the
home of Mrs. Stevenson and all ladies are
welcome, The meeting closed with the bite -
pair Benediction in unison and a social time
with a cup of tea.
WOMEN'S INSTITUTE
Mrs. John Vanass was hostess for the
February meeting of Cranbrook Women's
Institute. Plans were made to entertain at
the March birthday party at Callander Nur-
sing Home. Mrs. Vanass will ask a choir
from Grey Central School to help.
In her report from the District Executive
meeting, Mrs. Leslie Knight mentioned a
bus trip to the Lee and Hoodless homes in
early June. The district is asking us to find a

fund ratting venture to meet our share of
district funding. The members accepted in-
vitations to eater to a wedding anniversary
and a wedding in May and October respec-
tively. Mrs. Brenda Perrie will represent
the W.I. on the 1989 Cranbrook Comanunity
Hall Board. She will notify the Board that
we wish the township to assume ownership
of the contents (previously donated by the
W.I.) so that they may be insured under the
existing policy.
Mrs. Jack Conley has volunteered to
make tea towels for the hall kitchen from
the old tablecloths. Mrs. Perrie and Mrs.
Vanass will be leading the 4-H club "Work-
ing with Wool". Anyone interested in par-
ticipating should contact the leaders im-
mediately. As co-ordinator of Family and
Consumer Affairs, Mrs. Frank Workman
talked about ways to recycle household
in South
items and also helped the members make a
stuffed toy snake from old neckties. Lunch
was served by Mrs. Bob Locking and Mrs,
L. Knight.
HALL BOARD EUCHRE
Seventeen tables played at the Hall Board
euchre on February 17 with winners: high
Margaret Brown, Ken MacDonald. Low -
Ruby Steiss, Joe Cooper. Lone hands - Mary
Huether, Joe Martin. Lucky table - Edith
Baker, Brenda Perrie, Lourdes Genese, Jim
Milroy. Tallies - Audrey Adams, Jack Con-
ley, Jack Cox, Margaret MacDonald, Muriel
Whitfield, Jean Bewley, Jeanne Ireland,
Ross Stephenson. The Foresters are having
the euchre on Friday, February 24,
FORESTERS
The Canadian Order of Foresters Court
Woodbine M100 had their February meeting
in the Cranbrook Hall. The opening exer-

cines, secretary and treasurer's reports and
roll call were read. A newsletter about the
Canadian Forester games for the Physically
Disabled was read. The games this year will
be August 21-26 in Richmond B.C. To date
$55,392.00 has been collected to help finance
these games. Card parties were planned for
February 24, March le, 23 and April 7 and
21. The 50.50 draw was won by Sister Nancy
Vanessa. The meeting closed in harmony.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry b'wtnkels and family,
Komoka, visited the Vanessa family
February 12.
Mrs. Harvey Smith spent several days
recently with her family in London.
Misses Sharon and Susan Engel, Kamfte
and Tracy Abado, all of London, and Ron
and Rosanne Burdett and son Brent,'
Waterloo, spent Saturday with their grand-
mother Mrs. MeeEneel.
