There aeas an initiation ceremony with Chairman Al Nicholson in charge with the following members•being inducted into the Branch. Joe Kermeally, Jane Habkirk, Nichole Dupius, Helen McKellar, Eric , Driscoll, Ann Wood, Connie Marion and Nancy Gridzak. Long:service pins and awards were made with Comrade PastPresident Jim Watson in charge. There were 10-15-20-25-30-35-40 and 45,year pins given to members who have been Legion Members for their respective years. Two Appreciation Plaques were given to the Secretary of the Branch Thelma Coombs and Barbara Scott for their con- tribution to the welfare of the Branch over the past years. A Media Award was presented to Heather McIlwraith Editor of the Huron Expositor for the Expositor's con- tinued news coverage of the Legion over the past years, Comrade George Miller was given a Life Membership, which is the se- cond highest award a Branch can bestow on a member. This honor and award was presented by Comrade District Commander Glen Bridge. The President would like to thank all the members who helped in any way to make this evening the success it was. Also thanks to all members and guests who attended and to the Ladies Auxiliary and helpers who worked so bard to give us the splendid meal which we enjoyed so much. LEGION NEWS by Gordon Scott ht, honors members Coming up next week is the Pigtails, Ribs and Kraut evening with a dance at the end of the mea] to music by the Country Compa- nions. This is part of the celebrations for this year of the Diamond Jubilee (60 years 1 an- niversary. Tickets can be reserved from any member of the Entertainment Commit- tee and at the Branch, but please do so at once to give the committee an idea of how many will be present. Brotherhood night this year is being held on Thursday, February 23 under the auspices of the Knights of Columbus, in the Legion. All members of all organizations in the community are invited to attend this an- nual function. There will be no Seniors euchre on February 20. Don't forget the general meeting this Thursday at 8 pm.
