Ontario, on Thursday. February 16. 1989 from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m.. to present the plans regarding continued and future operation of the Holmesville Land- fill Site. A formal presentation of the findings of various studies undertaken at the site will.be made at 8:00 p.m., and will outline in detail the hydrogeologic setting, environmental impact evaluation. closure of the existing landfilling area, and the area being considered tor future landfilling. Any persons rn terested in reviewing the information prior to the Open House. may find a background information package at the Township of Goderich Office, • Holmesville and at area municipal offices, from the period of February 9 -to 16 1989 It is intended that the current landfilling area within the total approved waste disposal area be closed within an approximate two year period, and that future • landfilling of solid, non -hazardous waste from area municipalities be relocated to an area located immediately northwest and adiacent to the existing landfill As part of this closure and relocation. the Landfill Site Committee intends to apply for an exemption to the requirements under Section 29 of the En- vironmental Assessment Act. and proceed with this proposal under the re- quirements of the Environmental Protection Act The Landfill Site Committee is seeking public input to the continued use of the site, and the associated application for exemption, and thus comments are invited until the end of February 1989. Deb Bedard led the way for the Aces as she rolled high scores of 216, 200 and 192 for 608. Deb Hoekstra also had a good night bowling games of 141,131 and 127 for 399. Keep up the good work Deb you've come a long way since the beginning of the year. Don Deighton once again showed his dominance of the pins as he knocked them down to the count of 269, 238 and 231 for 738 to lead the Bowl Shippers Mark McKellar Bennewies and On January 28 Lucan visited the Seaforth Tigers and were defeated 33 to 15. It was hard to pick a start this day as all the bowlers for the Tigers had a good day, but Murray Bennewies did the most damage as he shattered the pins to count of 418, 285, 235. 226 and 184 for 1348. George Love had five wins as he hammered the pins to totals of 258, 241, 238, 237 and 209 for 1178. George Johnston could not be contained as he powered games of 342, 223. 222. 217 and 16e Novice was second high as he had totals of 204, 188 and 149 for 641. The Boomers defeated the Will-Nots by the score of 5 to 2 Neil Beuerman led the way shatting the pins for scores of 299, 299 and 212 for 810. Karl Teichert also had a fine night pinning games of 260, 239 and 140 for 636. Dan Bennewies led the Will-Nots ham- mering outscores of 276, 272 and 266 for 814, Steve Steep had a fair night on the lanes but could not make the pins go his way as he rolled 216, 164 and 162 for 342. The Big E's are on a roll as the regular season ends with another win of 5 to 2 over the Wander4'r- Ke,. Wheuitui, U. ua E's with power games of 284, 255 and -216 for 745. Carol Bennewies was not to be outdone as she broke the two hundred barrier every games as she rolled 246, 219 and 205 for 670. Leading the Wanderers 'was Doug Procter as he hit for a high of 317, 214•and 203 for 734. Doug Voek alstehad a good night rolling 267, 215 and 163 for845. Congratulations to the Bowl Shippers in winning the regularseason. Members of the team are: Doug Leorihardt, Don ,Deighton, Mel Meriden, Karen Piett, Sharon Marshall and Mark McKellar. Seaforth 'Tigers aw Lucan for 1167. Paul Smith led Leman with good games of 261, 242, 217, 207 and 197 for 1174. Mark Stephen was the next high with games of 286, 228, 211, 193 and 146 for 1064. On February 4 the Seaforth Tigers travell- ed to Goderich and were defeated by the first place club by the score of 31 to 17. Art Burt led the strong Goderich team with powerful games 354, 302, 245. 236 and 200 for 1337. Dick McLean put his usual perfor- mance in as he rolled scores of 335, 284, 232. 215 and 206 for 1272. Gerry Ross which gives this team a steady rock as he also had a good day hitting for totals of 299, 263, 243, 209 and 201 .for 1215. Roger Edwards led Seaforth as he scattered the pins for scores of 323, 320, 288, 219 and 186 for 1326. Murray Bennewies was not far behind as he knocked the pins all over for games of 318, 306, 244, 230 and 226 for 1324. Neil Beuerman 'had a good day too as he rolled games of 287, 273, 242. 219 and 195 for 1196. come from behind to double Clinton 6-3 On Sunday, February5 the Clinton Novice team came to town and were defeated by • Seaforth, At the end of the first period, Clinton was ahead 1-0 After a slow first period, the team came to life, Seaforth won the face-off and took the puck into the Clinton end, The boys kept it Woofs tops again Don and Ann Wood made it a family affair when they captured the men's and ladies' high triple. Ann also had a high single of'258 and for this her name will appear one more time on the Seniors bulletin board.' There were 29 bowlers present. Ladies' high triple was Ann Wood 683, Pearl James 558 and Dorothy McCluskte 510. Men's high triple Don Wood 657, Charlie Perkins 627 and Mer- vin Dietz 555. Finally Mark Van Dooren's shot got past the goalie. Assists went to Pat Coyne and Jered Munro. Seaforth then went ahead on an end to end rush by Mark Van Dooren. Clinton tied it up at the six minute mark, but Seaforth's next, goal was scored when both teams were play- ing short-handed. Ben Murray broke up the Clinton play at the blue line and took the puck in himself and scored With 1'e minutes to play in the second period Scott Pee'Wees t Henderson got the puck to Mark Van Dooren who shot it over the goalie's right shoulder. With only three seconds left in the period Scott Henderson got his second assist. This time he passed the puck out of the corner to Scott Van Dooren in front of the net. He then popped it in. At the end of the second period the score was Seaforth 5 Clinton 2. Clinton scored at the halfway mark of the last period to give them their third goal. Jered Munro made two end to end rushes in a row and on the second one the goalie went down and Jered slipped it home The final score was Seaforth 6 Clinton 3 meet Clinton in playo s The Seaforth Pee Wee lo advanced to the second round of playoffs by defeating Wingham two games straight. Seaforth had lost the first game in the best two out of three series. Seaforth travelled to Wingham on Thurs- day and came up with a 4-2 victory. Scoring for Seaforth were Justin Rodney one goal, Mike Devereaux three goals and assists went to Joe Murray and Wayne Schoonder- woerd one each. On Sunday. Seaforth travelled to Wingham again and "defeated the Wingham squad 7-1. Seaforth got on the scoreboard early with only 14 second into the game Wayne Schoonderwoerd scored from Joe Murray and Mike Devereaux. Joe Mur -ay put Seaforth ahead 2-0 with a pass from Mike Devereaux. Wingham answered back with a goal at the 6:47 mark of the first In the second period, Wayne Schoonderwoerd scored the only goal with assists by Mike Devereaux and Jonathan Hugill. The third period Seaforth put the icing on the cake by scoring four goals. two by Mike Watt, one each for Joe Murray and Mike Weber. Assists went to Mike Watt two, Ken Hildebrand one. Gord Henderson scored the se- cond goal off a pass by Dale Kennedy. Mur- ray Houston scored a goal, and John Cairns also contributed to the win. He was assisted by Rick Archambault, Dale Kennedy got the fifth goal by tucking the ball into the top cor- ner of the net. Frank Verberne assisted. Winthrop's goal came from Ross Mitchell, assisted by Fred McClure. GRADS 2 -ROYALS 1 Dana Bean scored first for the Grads off a pass by Henry Wydeven. Tony Van Den Hevel bewildered the goalie with a shot to the top corner of the net, assisted by Gary Dill'and Adrian Wydeven. The Royals 1 goal came from Rob MacLean's breakaway.
