Belles -t ; at'tl or ringette championship
On January29.the Belles played Exeterat
the Hensall Arena. A few oftheptayers•were
missing so three pick ups from the Junior
Belles were needed.
The game started off with Seaforth scor-
ing two goals. The period ended with a 2-1
lead for Seaforth
In the second period Seaforth ac-
cumulated only three more goals and
managed to keep Exeter from scoring. Goal
scorers for Seaforth were Tradey Fortune
with four and Tammy Nash with one
Assists went to Heather McKercher, Tracey
Sills, and Shelly Nigh each with one
Seaforth's second game was Sunday.

The Seaforth Centenaires were officially
knocked out of the Western Junior D
playoffs in the past week, when they lost two
matches to Lucan and one to Brussels. Some
Centenaires may yet have a successful
season. however. Junior B scouts have ex-
pressed interest in some Seaforth hockey
players.
If the Centenaires..had been alive in the
first period against Lucan on Sunday in
Seaforth they may have upset them.

20 minutes of play. The second period was
"Gretzky" slipping one Ly the Huron Park
goalie assisted by Lori Dewys. At the 10109

hand corner.
• Just minutes later Tammy
Nash picked up the ring on a rebound from
Sheri Kling and flipped it into the 'net
Seaforth's next goal was scored by winger
Sheri Kling assisted by Jane Roweliffe.and
Tammy Nash. At the 5.04 mark, Jen Watt
counted for her second goal of the night
assisted by Amy Vanden Akker. With -great
team work and good passing Jane Rowcliffe
and Sheri Kling helped teammate Tammy
Nash to complete her hat trickas she scored
by deflecting it off the goalie's pads. Shelly
O'Brian, goalie for Seaforth, played "mint"
played more defensively, and the Irish Six
were held to only one goal. With 55 seconds
left in the period Andy Ball finally got
Seeforth on the scoreboard assisted by Jeff
Gemmell and Travis Lyndon.
Seaforth again tied Lucan in third period
scoring, Chris Reeves hammered a goal
assisted by Brad Carter and Mike Murray.
then Carter, facing off in Lucan's end, flip-
ped the puck through the opposing een-
treman's legs. then got to it and slipped it
through the five hole for an unassisted. goal.
Lucan also scored twice in the third period,
but won the game 8-3 by merit of their first
but was caught off guard as Huron Park
counted for their first goal at the 4'26 mark.
The second period saw Amy Vanden Akker
and Jen Watt making the moves. Amy
scored two in a row. which were both
assisted by Jen Watt. Jane Rowcliffe put on
the jets and scored assisted by Sheri Kifng
and Tammy Nash. Huron Park scored their
•second goal of the night, but that was follow-
ed by a goal from Sheri Kling assisted by
Tammy Nash. Nash received a pass from
defeneeman Heather •McKercher to score
her fourth. Amy Vanden Akker put in the
last goal assisted by Sheri Kling. Final score
12 to 2.
The girls ended their regular season with
10 wins and two losses. They will now battle
for the championship in the playoff round.

Earlier in the week, the Centenaires faced
Brussels Friday night in Seaforth, The.
Centenaires were short of players, including
scoring leaders Ray Murray and Brad
Carter, because the midgets were on the ice
in Wingham. They lost the contest 10-5.
On Wednesday, February. 1 the
Centenaires lost to Lucan 14-5.
The Centenaires.next home game, will be
played against Mitchell on February 12.

Seahawks back on home ace
The Seaforth Seahawks will be glad to be
back on home ice this Friday. Maybe some
more players will show up. They lost their
third game in a row, all of them on the road,
Friday night at Milverton, a 6-5 decision to
the fifth -place 4 -Wheel Drives,
Once again the Seahawks were shorthand-
ed with only a goalie and 12 skaters. And
once again it cost them, as Seaforth jumped
to a 3-0 lead after seven minutes, but didn't
have the bodies to hang onto it.
The Seahawks play a better game in their
own rink. They're undefeated in all eight
home games this season. And it's a good
thing too, because first -place Wellesley is
the visitor this Friday. Game time is 8:30
p.m.
This is the last weekend of regularly
scheduled hockey in the southern in-
termediate division of the Western Ontario
Athletic Association. The Seatiawks will
finish up at Bengali Saturday night against
Milverton. Going into this weekend's action
Seaforth has a record of 10 wins, six losses
and a tie. Who they will play in the first
round of the playoffs is still •anybody's
guess.
Greg Murray continued to be the
Seahawks' "Main Man" this season when it
comes to shooting, with three goals Friday.
Darren Crocker and Gerry McLaughlin got
the other Seaforth goals. Troy Elg got a pair
for Milverton. The two teams were tied at
4-4 after the first period, and Milverton led
6-4 after the second.
The Seahawks had 16 minutes worth of
minors, a hooking and fighting major and a
game misconduct to Kevin Williamson.
Milverton took 12 minutes in minors and one
fighting major.
Thursday night bowling title
The regular season is over and a new title
is up for grabs - the playoffs.
It's a new slate and the Boomers drew
first blood as they defeated the Big E's 3 to
1. Jack Ungarian was the big shooter for the
Boomers as he rolled 291, 208 and 167 for 666.
Bob Wright also had a good night as he
counted scores of 260, 185 and 182 for 627.
Janice Leonhardt, the lone girl on the team,
.did not let the boys outdo her as she had
totals of 224, 208 and 184 for 616. Erich Mat-
zold led the Big E's as be scattered the pins
for scores of 260, 229 and 181 for 670. Pat
Deighton had a great night bowling games
of 245, 232 and 188 for 665. Carol Bennewies
was close behindat as she rolled 263, 248
and 126 for 637. r
The Aces are still flying high as they shot
down the Will-nots by the score of 3 to 1.
Brian Dale led the Aces knocking the pins
down to the count of 284, 217 and 169 for 670.

as he made the most of his pin and scored
games of 235, 211 and 140 for 586.
The Wanderers put up a good battle as
they came up with a 2 to 2 tie with the
regular season champs, the Bowl Shippers.
As usual when things go right the pins fall
great as Doug Leonhardt powered his way
to scores of 313, 235 and 227 for 775 to lead the
Bowl Shippers. Mark McKellar had a good
night as he,counted scores of 237, 226 and 169
for 632. Doug Procter led the Wanderers
with three good games as he rolled games of
232, 222 and 213 for 667. Gary Bedard was not
far behind as he bad totals of 248, 214 and 201
for 663.
