Canvassers for the Village include Donna Hamather, Jan Baker, Kay Rathwell, Alma Dayman, Wanda Lawrence, Dorothy Kipfer, Dorothy Corbett, Lea Seaton, Sheila Reaburn, Donna St. John, Anne Maxwell, Winnie Skea, Mr. and Mrs. E. Chipchase, Jessie Cameron, Doug Kyle, Marg Cole, B ,nnie Bozzato and Bob Reaburn. Queensway resld Queensway residents made a nice relax- ing start to the week with a tea party in the Sunroom. A few residents would like to see it look a little more like winter with a clean white blanket of snow on the ground, when they gaze out the big sunroom window. In the afternoon Mary Roobol, Dorothy Brint- nell and Audrey Christie were in to assist with Bingo. Thank you ladies. Tuesday Fun and Fitness started the day followed by games in the Activity Room. Reverend Parker of Varna United Church led the worship service in the afternoon. All appreciated his message and also enjoyed Idella Sims solo "When the Roll Is Called Up Yonder". Baking Club met Wednesday and produc- ed date squares and chocolate peanut butter bars. Residents like to occasionally make no bake items because they can all sample immediately. • Residents were pleased to welcome Dorothy Elder back Thursday morning after her holiday. Everyone really enjoys those personal manicures. We missed you Dorothy. In the afternoon the movie "Something to Sing About", starring James Cagney, was shown. Ray Cann, Harry Jef- frey and Jim and Rena Young were in Thursday evening to entertain at the mon- thly Birthday Party. Birthday greetings to Jessie Armstrong, Dave Watson, Idella Sims and Ada Ball. Everyone had a super - time, thanks to a certain hairdresser that helped a few to kick up their heels. Friday morning Residents Council met and in the afternoon residents had a presen- tation on Popcorn shelling by Ken and Della Gascho, They brought in their 100 -year-old shelling machine and an ample supply of popcorn on the cob. Anyone who wanted to, had an opportunity to operate the sheller EUCHRE PARTY A successful euchre party was held in Hensel' by the Three Links Senior Citizens on January 24. Twelve tables were in play. Winners were: ladies high, Joy Hogg, se- cond Eileen Dowson; gents high, Mary Broadfoot, second Jack Madge; lone hands, Joyce Willert. Winners of the draw were Verda Baechler, Vera Srnale, Mabel McKnight, Alf ents privy to pop and following that lots of popcorn was made. Mr. Gascho informed us that popcorn is a good nutritious low calorie snack food. I think that was before we poured on the melted butter and salt. The Gaschos sell their organically grown popcorn through health food stores and from their home near Ross and Mary Main Birthday good wishes went to Beatrice Richardson. Another euchre party will be held February 28. All are welcome. SHUFFLEBOARD RESULTS Winners of the Hensall shuffleboard on January 24 were Dave Kyle, 363; Dave Woodward, 352; Joy Hogg, 335; Eileen Dowson, 310; and Pearl McKnight, 308. corn shelling Zurich., All enjoyed the informative, hands on presentation. Residents who are unable to attend the regular activities are benefitting from the Ladies Auxiliary project of a few hours of personal visitation each week. Seen rather hazily in the foreground giving instructions for the shelling, is Ken Gascho of the Zurich area. Mr. Gascho's pop com shelter is estimated at over 100 years of age.
