Queensway resld
Queensway residents made a nice relax-
ing start to the week with a tea party in the
Sunroom. A few residents would like to see it
look a little more like winter with a clean
white blanket of snow on the ground, when
they gaze out the big sunroom window. In
the afternoon Mary Roobol, Dorothy Brint-
nell and Audrey Christie were in to assist
with Bingo. Thank you ladies.
Tuesday Fun and Fitness started the day
followed by games in the Activity Room.
Reverend Parker of Varna United Church
led the worship service in the afternoon. All
appreciated his message and also enjoyed
Idella Sims solo "When the Roll Is Called Up
Yonder".
Baking Club met Wednesday and produc-
ed date squares and chocolate peanut butter
bars. Residents like to occasionally make no
bake items because they can all sample
immediately. •
Residents were pleased to welcome
Dorothy Elder back Thursday morning
after her holiday. Everyone really enjoys
those personal manicures. We missed you
Dorothy. In the afternoon the movie
"Something to Sing About", starring James
Cagney, was shown. Ray Cann, Harry Jef-
frey and Jim and Rena Young were in
Thursday evening to entertain at the mon-
thly Birthday Party. Birthday greetings to
Jessie Armstrong, Dave Watson, Idella
Sims and Ada Ball. Everyone had a super -
time, thanks to a certain hairdresser that
helped a few to kick up their heels.
Friday morning Residents Council met
and in the afternoon residents had a presen-
tation on Popcorn shelling by Ken and Della
Gascho, They brought in their 100 -year-old
shelling machine and an ample supply of
popcorn on the cob. Anyone who wanted to,
had an opportunity to operate the sheller
EUCHRE PARTY
A successful euchre party was held in
Hensel' by the Three Links Senior Citizens
on January 24. Twelve tables were in play.
Winners were: ladies high, Joy Hogg, se-
cond Eileen Dowson; gents high, Mary
Broadfoot, second Jack Madge; lone hands,
Joyce Willert.
Winners of the draw were Verda
Baechler, Vera Srnale, Mabel McKnight, Alf
ents privy to pop
and following that lots of popcorn was made.
Mr. Gascho informed us that popcorn is a
good nutritious low calorie snack food. I
think that was before we poured on the
melted butter and salt. The Gaschos sell
their organically grown popcorn through
health food stores and from their home near
Ross and Mary Main
Birthday good wishes went to Beatrice
Richardson.
Another euchre party will be held
February 28. All are welcome.
SHUFFLEBOARD RESULTS
Winners of the Hensall shuffleboard on
January 24 were Dave Kyle, 363; Dave
Woodward, 352; Joy Hogg, 335; Eileen
Dowson, 310; and Pearl McKnight, 308.

SHELLING CORN - Lillian Smith of Queensway Nursing Home in Hensall took a turn
Friday at shelling corn, which was later turned into a delicious snack for her fellow
residents. Seen rather hazily in the foreground giving instructions for the shelling, is
Ken Gascho of the Zurich area. Mr. Gascho's pop com shelter is estimated at over 100
years of age. Mcliwraith photo.
