Seaforth Novice win twice in regular league
On Tuesday, January 17 the Novice team
played their first game in the Seaforth Atom
Tournament. They played a close game
against London Oakridge. The two teams
were very evenly matched and the only goal
of the game came mid -way through the se-
cond period when Oakridge managed to
score.
The next game in the tournament was
played on Saturday, January 21 against
Stephen Township. Unfortunately, this was
a much stronger Atom team and they scored
10 unanswered goals. Seaforth's only goal
came with just 53 seconds left to play in the
game. Scott Henderson got an assist when
he made a beautiful pass to Mark Van
Dooren who was able to get the puck behind
their goalie. These two losses put Seaforth
out of the Atom tournament.
On Sunday, January 22, the Novice team
were back to playing in their own league.
Both Clinton and Seaforth had no loss
records in regular season games coming in-
to this game.
The Clinton team scored the first two
goals - one in the first period and one in the
second period. With only two minutes left in
the second period, Pat Coyne passed to
Jeremey McNichol who scored on a
breakaway.
Clinton started the scoring early in the
third period but Seaforth was determined to
get back in the game. Brandon Nash got the
face-off back to Scott Van Dooren who shot
from the circle and then Derek Smith was on
hand to fire in the rebound.

5:12 mark of the final period. Rob Craig
broke up the Clinton play, Bruce Griffin
picked up the loose puck and moved it up on
the boards to Derek Smith at the blue line
who backhanded it to Scott Van Dooren at
centre ice. He made a nice on -side pass to
Brandon Nash at the Clinton blue line. He
then shot from the top of the circle and beat
the goalie. The score was then Seaforth 3
Clinton 3.
The winning goal was scored with only 63
seconds left in the game. Bruce Griffin
broke up the Clinton play and passed the
puck up to Mark Van Dooren while still
down on his knees. Mark skated all the way
down the ice and shot from a very sharp'
angle to make the final score Seaforth 4
Clinton 3.

The weekend put Seaforth of other "poutt\
behind Wellesley, the team the Cents' will
have to catch for a.playoff spot, as Wellesley
tied Brussels 5-5 Friday.
Asked if he thought the Centenaires were
going to make the playoffs, Centenaires
coach Graham Nesbitt responded:
"If we don't it's only because we haven't
been there every game. Even when all the
players were there, not all of them showed
up to play."
The Centenaires will play their next home
game against Brussels on Friday, February
3. The Cents record against the Bulls this
season is 0 and 5.

ring on a pass from Kris, Gemmell and shot
it high into the net to put Seaforth on the
