AGGRESSIVE PLAY characterized the Herlev-Seaforth game
moreso than one would expect during a match with a European

trot of the puck. Seaforth outscored Herlev in the first two periods
and most of the game, butl-terlev outclassed Seafdrth in the final
three minutes of play and won the game 7-4. At one point the Danish
visitors were behind 4-1. Corbett photo.
The Seaforth Bantams took on the Visiting
hockey team from Herlev, Denmark on
Thursday, December 29, and saw why they
are the top team in their home country.
The game .was opened with an introduc-
tion of the visiting players and the home
team. with Ken Cardno acting as M.C.
Huron -Bruce MP Murray Cardiff was at the
event to present the Danish visitors with a
Canadian flag as a souvenir, and to drop The
puck for the ceremonial opening faceoff. ,
Once the game was underway', the Herlev
team was. impressive with strong skating,
and organized, crisp passing, but it was
Seaforth that jumped out into the lead early
in the game.
Seaforth's first goal came when Jason
McNichol and Steven Papple broke down on
a two on one. McNiehol gave the puck to
Papple, but he was foiled by the Herlev
defencemanAnd the puck was cleared to the
corner. Pa pfe got to the puck and threw it
back to Brent Van Den-Akker on the point.
Van Den Akker drove a slapshot into the bot-

tom corner, scoring the only goal of the first
period.
In the second 20 minutes of play Ted Sills
was in the right spot to be set up for an open
net goal by Jason McNichol. A few minutes
later Sills made the score 3-0or Seaforth on
a goal set up by Jason Beutteller. Herlev
finally got on the scoreboard with an in-
dividual effort by Johnny Klintrup with 2:51
left in the second period. But 18 seconds
later Seaforth increased its lead to 4-1 as
Steven Papple scored assisted by Jason
McNichol.
Herlev got off to a slow start on the
scoreboard in the first two periods, but in
the tiffiitd they owned the puck, and once they
got going goals were theirs for the taking.
-v The scoring didn't start until 9:30 when
Johnny Klintrup brought Seaforth's Jeff
Weber across his goal with some enviable
stickhandling, then he gave the puck to
Brian Bugge who put it into an open net.
Herlev still needed three goals to win the
game, but the flood gates open + at 3:18,
and the Danish team got the three goals it
needed, plus an additional two to ice the
cake in the, last minute of play.
Herlev's Brian Bugge got two more goals
to make a hat trick, and Hasse Christiansen,
Peter Bang, and Rasmus Singe each
scored once. The final score was 7-4 for the
visitors,
Frank Glees, team manager for the
Herlev club, says the third period was some
of the best hockey his temp has played in a
long time, and he thought that the Seaforth
bantams may not have played the best
pipe it is capable of.
So far the Danish team is undefeated in
Canada. They beat Mitchell 9-6 on
December 30, and bombed Mt. Forest 10-4
on January 2. They played in Listowel on
Tuesday,' but results were not available in ,.
time for publication:"They will be playing
Wednesday in Kincardine, Thursday in
Wingham, and on Saturday, January 7 they
will take on Seaforth once again at 5:45
before they say farewell. <
There are only 11 games left in' the
Seaforth Centenaires' regular schedule, and
they're important games to the club if it is
going to find a place in the playoffs. The
Centenaires lost three mare games this
week, and dropped their record to two wins,
20 losses and three ties.
MITCHELL 11, SEAPORT!! 8
In the first game against the Mitchell ,
Hawks on Wednesday the Centenaires had
the lead halfway" through the game..
Seaforth's power play notched three goals in
the first period, with goals being scored by
Andy Ball, Mike Betties, and Ray Murray.
owever, Mitchell outscored Seaforth in the
riod with five goals.
But in the second period Brad Carter
