Seaforth honoured three
outstanding citizens and five

atario Athletic awards at a
presentation at the new arena
Thursday night.
The awards, given by the
town's recreation committee,
on the nominations of local
groups, went to Bob Beutten-
iller for service to sports in
tJte community, to Marlen
Vincent for civic service and
to A.Y. McLean for humani-
tarian service.

The . Hensall United
Church was filled to capacity
on Friday evening for the
annual Christmas Eve Ser-
vice. The service opened
with the lighting of The
ARK
Christ Candle. Six readers
assisted in telling the Christ-
mas story through scripture,
Donald Wareing, Travis Bea-
ver, Mark McGregor, Peter
Cook, . Michael McGregor
and Rod Parker,
The Junior Choir brought
the congregation into a truly
Christmas experience as they
led in the music of the
evening. The Junior Girls
choir sang "From Heaven
Above To Earth Beneath",
The Junior Boys Choir "As
Lately We Watched", The
combined choir sang "Here
We Go Up To Bethlehem"
and "The Christmas Pray-
er". Pam Gackstetter and
Jennifer Taylor in a duet
sang "Only a Stable".
Wayne Scotchmer was solo-
ist, singing the old favourite
"Away in A Manger" and "l
wonder as 1 wander". The
choir closed the service with
"Silent Night". •
The church was decorated
with lights and poinsettias.
The ushers for the service
were Starry Jesney, Dana
BMatto, Sherry Dayman and
Shielai Riley. The service
closed with the serving of
communion. Assisting the
minister was Irene Davis and
George Parker; serving com-
munion was Hilda Payne,
Dorothy Parker, Bill Fuss,
Harry Stuart, Alf Ross, Doug
Cook, Eric Mansfield and
Chuck Doxtator. -

About twenty members of
the United Church congre-
gation gathered at the church
on Wednesday evenitig to go'
out carolling around the
village. Although time went
by quickly and they were not
able to get to all the homes of
shut-ins as planned, the
homes visited expressed
much appreciation for this
hind gester.
There was an excellent
attendance at the United
Church on Sunday morning
for the Christmas Family
Service. The service was
conducted by Rev. McDoueald
with Douglas Klopp at the
organ.
During the service Adam
Anthony Russell son of Mark
and.' Brenda Russell and
Benjamin Jeffrey Raeburn
son of Jeffrey and Cindy
Raeburn were received
rough baptism. Eric Mans-
field, chairman of the Sacra-
ments committee, assisted
the minister with the Bapt-
ismal Service,
