(Wassink photo) Morris council holds inaugural Morris township council met at their inaugural meeting with the new council sworn into office. Council includes: William' - Elston. reeve; Thomas Miller, deputy•reeve: , councillors. Doug Fraser, Bob Grasby and 'C -(em McLellan. Rev. Terry Trites of Bluevale attended the meeting, addressing council with guidance and a prayer. Wayne Hopper was appointed supervisor of the Hopper Municipal Drain -Pumping Station and will be paid $6.25 per hour. Mr. Hopper will record his hours of work and submit them to council for payment annually or when a sizeable bill is accumulated. Also attending the meeting was Andy McBride, concerning the Hopper Municipal Drain -Pumping Station. He informed council that aspump installed last September was not operating properly. was removed and return• ed to Sass Manufacturing for repair. In place of oil lubricated bearings. required to operate the pump under sandy conditions. the pump featured water lubricated bearings. Mr. McBride said costs to repair the pump would be approximately $1900. Cost to the township wilIbe $835. He advised council in have the pump operating year round instead of using the pump certain times of the year. Council. recommended for consent. the severance application of Mel Jermyn, lot one, concession three. Thempplication conforms to the Huron county official plan as the land to he conveyed is to. be added to an existing parcel of land and does not offend any neighbouring land uses. The severance will he for a licensed equipment repair shop. A subsidy of 540.000 was approved last May. A $300 grant will be forwarded to the Town and Country Homemakers for 1982. Council was presented with a Waste Management Contract from the Ministry of Environment for the Waste Disposal Site. A decision on the contract was deferred until the township solicitor. Allan Mill could present his opinion. The reeve informed council that the official opening of the new Blues aIeHall will be held on February 5.
