Greeters were Nick Whyte and Ron Gross. Ushers were C.G.I.T. girls, Lisa Bosman, Lori Bromley, Deanna Lyon and Janet Wilts. The Explorers and their Ieaders,Ann Adams and Carol Finch, the C.G.I.T. girls and leader Jane Swan occupied centre front seats. Colin Swan welcomed all. Lighting the Candle 3 for advent were members of the Hulley family, Betty, Ken Darlene, and Denise. Instal- lation of Explorer and C.G.I.T. leader and eight new members of Explorers and graduation pins were presented. A new six•mem- ber C.G.I.T. group was wel- comed. There has not been a C.G.I.T. for several years. The sermon was "Where is our salvation?" Barb Bos- nian was organist and choir director. After the service a pot Cock dinner was served. A sing song was held led by Barb Bosman with Gail Lear at the piano. Santa Claus made his appearance for the children and each was treated with a bag of goodies. U.C.W. Three Hills. Alberta. spent a week with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bert vah Donkers- goed. Word has been received of the serious illness of Frank Hunter, in hospital in Osha- wa. Frank is the nephew of Mrs. Ida Gordon and attend- ed school in Cranbrook as a boy.t the card party on Friday night 12 tables were playing with the following winners: high lady -Mrs. Joe Martin. low lady -Nancy Vanass. high man•Ken Crawford. low man - Ross Dietner. lone hands - Cliff Hoegy. lucky table 112, door prize -Beryl Smith. Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Strickler and Brenda Perrie were the committee in charge. The next party will be held on January 14th. Gerald van Donkersgoed. son of Mr. and Mrs. Bert van Donkersgoed convocated on November 20th from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Science in Agri- culture degree. His is pre. sently employed as an Agron• omist with Green Leaf Farm Supply Ltd in Three Hills, Alberta. On December 3rd theCran• brook Women's Institute was hostess at the Cranbrook Hall for a Christmas dinner with the Ethel W.I. as guests. Following a delicious turkey dinner with all the trimmings. the Ethel W.I. led in a Christmas Carol sing song. A short reading was given by Mrs. Joan Smith of Ethel. followed by a humorous skit by Barb Grube and Margaret McMahon. Twenty six an• swered the roll call "I re- member" with a wide assort- ment of recollections. After gifts were exchanged. Cran• brook W.I. held a short business meeting, Mrs. Frank Workman presiding. The Fe:eration of Agricul- ture had their Christmas dinner and annual meeting in the community Centre on wed Dec. 8 at noon. The C ranhrnok W.I. catered for thr dinner. Other activities in the Corn- munn,. Centre on the week- end included the Smith family pr“_ hrtstmas dinner on Sat- urday and the 'Dickinson family party Sat. evening. Mr. and Mrs. John Vanass and family attended the Dutch Club Christmas party in Woodstock on Sunday and visited later with Mr. and Mrs. Pete Boekel at Innerkip. Lloyd Smith resumed work at Campbell Soup, Listowel. foliowinkhis bad accident in June with the resulting severe back injury. Readings were given by Betty Millar and Gail Lear Betty Millar read My Christmas List. A short sing song held with Diane Steven- son at the piano. Solos were sung by Barbara Bosman and Marjorie Duizer. Margaret Robinson, an English teacher spoke and showed slides on her story of Indonesia from May to September with Cross- roads where she taught English. She was presented with a gift by Margaret Whyte. Colin Swan closed the meeting with a prayer. Margaret had a large num- ber of articles on display that she had brought home with her and wore a dress from Java. W.I. FAMILY CHRISTMAS PARTY The W.I. family Christmas party was held December 8 when 37 enioved the supper. Marjorie Duizer was at the piano. Draw winners were: lucky plate -Jim Jamieson and Shannon Duizer, door prize - Ted Fothergill. Euchre win- ners were: hidden scores - Marjorie Anderson, Colin Swan, Ted Fothergill, Ro- mona Jameison, Les Reid, Margaret Taylor, Reg Law- son and Jane Anderson. Committee in charge were Hazel Reid, Beth Knox, Margaret Taylor and Marjor- ie Duizer. VESPER SERVICE An impressive vesper s. vice was held on Sunday evening by C.G.I.T. Ushers were Explorer girls Tracy Kennedy. Brenda Fmch, Theresa Overboe and Sandy Merrier. C.G.i.T. leader Jane Swan welcomed all and led the service. The theme was "is that all there is?" Soloist was Lisa Rosman. C.G.I.T. and Explorers from dvent se Seaforth were welcomed. W.I. CARDS There were 5 tables in play on Friday The winners were: ladies high - Margaret Taylor, lone hands - Hazel Heid, low - Stella Adams, men's high - Eric Anderson, lone hands - Ted Fothergill, low - Lorne Bunking. There will be no more cardsuntil the new year. Watch for future announcements. In charge were Vi Burns and Margaret Taylor. PERSONALS Mr. Harry Caldwell re- ceived word last week of the death of his friend Oliver Henderson in hospital in Whitehorse, Yukon. Many will remember him when he lived in the village a few years ago. Mr. Charles Crawford re- turned to his home in Kelow- na, B.C. on Sunday having spent 10 days here and attended the funeral of his father-in-law, Leonard Cald- ell and visited his mother, Mrs. Maimie Crawford. Blyth. Saturday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Allen Shaddick were Mr. and Mrs. Dick Garlicks, Kitchener and Mr. and Mrs. Terry Moore of Toronto. T.B. Allen Ltd. entertain- ed their employees on Satur- day night Dec. 11th to dinner and a dance at the White Carnation, Holmesville, there were 58 attended. On December 6. Norman Alexander was at a resource management forum held by the Ministry of Natural Re- sources in London, and on December 8, he attended the annual meeting of the Christ- ian Farmers Federation of Ontario at the University of Guelph.
