The end of another year is
drawing near, with new and
brighter things looked for-
ward to the new year.
Christmas is the last
major happening for the
youngsters especially when
that jolly old fellow with the
belly that jiggles like a bowl
full of jelly and the hearty
ho -ho appears. Sure he is
even. better than E.T. The
spirit of giving abides world-
wide and the little bit of
Scrooge in all of us is
forgotten. if there were ever
a gift unwrapping contest for
the fastest, the wee folk
would win for certain. What
took Mrs, Santa Claus hours
to wrap is demolished in
seconds. That old express-
ion. "curiosity killed the
rat". proves true for the little
people have gone through all
nine lives of the cat by the
time all the presents are
opened.
The snow has returned as
we expected and what a good
thing. Who can shop for
Christmas when it is 50
degrees out? Sure one starts
to think about cutting the
grass not shovelling snow.
Just think what the children
who get toboggans and skis
would think if there were no
snow.
With alittle more than a
week left before Christmas,
shoppers are rechecking
their lists and picking up that
tittle something for the baby-
sitter or good friend. All
that's left now is the holiday
season baking and when that
starts, the diet you spent all
year working on suddenly is
gone. but then it's Christ-
mas.
Dieting and the economy
have a great deal in common.
When they both fail the end
result is the same, the
country and you have gone to
Keep your chin up, things
will get beter as the New
Year is just around the
corner and a new set of
resolutions are to be made.
As the year passes again
and man and his country
struggle to get back in shape.
we all remember the turkey
and stuffing and plum pud-
duing we enjoyed on Christ-
mas and all that we gained
from this marvellous season.
