(Photo by White) A beautiful parade day What a beautiful day it was on Saturday for the annual Seaforth Santa Claus Parade., Thanks to Mrs. Jackie Racho. fourteen resi- dents were privileged to ride in the parade in the decorated van and wave to the crowds as they lined Seafforth's main street. Upon returning to the nursing home a sing -song was held and coffee and doughnuts were served to all residents who anxiously awaited Santa's visit. He did not disappoint anyone and along with his two pretty helpers distributed oranges to all residents. Thanks again to Mr. Bill Hodgen who, accompanied also. The afternoon unit of Northside United Church visited Seaforth Manor last Thursday afternoon at 2 p.m. and provided a very nice program under the direction of President Mrs. Edith Dun- lop. Residents also enjoyed very much the music of Mrs. Evelyn Brown and Mrs. E. Haist on their mouth organs. Birthdays of the month were celebrated and a gift present- ed to each resident having a birthday. A delicious .lunch was served provided by the ladies and courtesy remarks were given by Sydney Pear- son to all who had partici- pated. Father Caruana of St. James Catholic Church .visit- ed on Friday and held mass for all Catholic residents. Season's greetings were also extended to Father and Sister Mary by Ila Gardner. "Wasn't that a party" was what many residents were saying last Wednesday morn- ing following their old tyme music and dance Tuesday evening. Music was supplied by Mrs. Gladys Van Egmond on piano. Arthur Finlayson. electric guitar and on the violins were Elgin Nott. Ray t-anteton and Bruce Arm- strong. Residents were reluc- tant to say good bight to the musicians. The resident coudcil met on Friday morning and Charles Ross expressed his wish to resign as president at the end of December. Elections for the new year will take place the first week of January. Mr. Ross Houghton has returned from Stratford General Hospital to Seaforth Manor. Visiting with Dr. E. Sadlier on Saturday was his daughter and son-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Gene Farley of Toronto. • Mrs. Gladys Ruston spent Saturday at her home with family. Mr. Voogel of Grand Bend visited his wife -Ria on Sun- day. Busy weeks at the Legion GORDON SCOTT, e.R.O. Our auxiliary had banquets three days in a row to cater to and this weekend will be no different. Oue bright spot f Mr. and Mrs.- Don Stephenson of Ottawa were recent visitors with his mother. Mrs. Effie Stephenson of Seaforth. On the weekend they left for nine months in Sweden where Don will be on assignment fflr the National Research Council. Last Wednesday our sports chairman Jim had fourteen tables at his euchre tournament. which is the biggest crowd that has at- tended one of these functions yet. If these crowds get any biggcr we will have to move upstairs to the hall. The next me will be Dec. 15 at 8 p.m. On Dec. 18 there will be a turkey bingo and a social afterwards. This is some- thing new our entertainment chairman is doing and I'm sure he is hoping for our support both m attending and lending a hand at the bingo. Well have more on this next week. Jack reports the New Year's Eve tickets are now available and can be purchased at the bar or from any of the committee in charge. Today. Dec. 7 is the 41st anniversary of Pearl Harbour which brought the U.S.A. into the last war as our allies. To those men and women who lost their lives that fateful day. the world re- members them. LONDESBORO LIONS Lion District Governor Don Bachin of Owen Sound was one of the special guests of the Londesboro Lions De- cember 2 as they held a combined ladies night and recognition night for the newly formed Leo club •of Londesboro. Following a meal by the Londesboro U.C.W., M.C. Lion Al Bos- man introduced Governor Don and his wife, along with other head table guests, zone chairman John Stewart and his wife and district Leo chairman Jim ,Paratchek ac- companied by his wife. Lion Al welcomed Lion wives, Leos • and parents. District Gover- nor Don presented Leo Ron Nesbitt with their interna- tional certificate. The lions club represented by 1st vice president Joe Hunking and 2nd vice presi- dent Art Airdrie presented the Leo Club with the presi- dent's gong and gavel and the tail twister lion , accepted by Leo President Ron Nesbitt and Leo tail twister Ran Mason. The initiation ceremony was under the direction of Lion Dave Overboe, Keith Allen and Lion Dist. Governor Don. Lions Mark Kiuper. Merv. MEET The Burns U.C.W. met at the Londesboro hall on Wed- nesday. A turkey dinner was served by the Women's Insti- tute. There were 17 present. Following the dinner Hazel Reid opened the meeting. Jean Leiper read the Scrip- ture. Christmas readings were given by Joan Midde- gaal. Beryl Reid, Joan Hog- garth and Gloria McEwing. Amelia Rice was in charge of the business. Roll call was answered with a Bible verse. The treasurer's report was given by Margaret Taylor. A thank you card was received from Ed and Betty Salverda. Correspondence was read. by Amelia Rice. A donation of 550. was made to the Sunday School. 550. allocation was sent. A poinsettia will be sent to the church. Members sign- ed Christmas cards for the shut-ins.
