It is very busy on our farm
because we have had lots of
lambs born. We have four
sets of triplets and some
singles and twins.

Bethel Bible took our Wed-
nesday service. The Christ-
mas theme was . used
throughout the service. with
the singing of Christmas
carols.
Mr. and Mrs. Mervyn Lobb
of Clinton sang, a duet. Jean
Lobb accompanied the sing-
ing at the piano with a
duet by Sheri and Lisa Hen-
derson.
Mrs. McGonigle said the
reading.
As a child the minister
thought Christmas was for
-getting" but when he grew
older he changed his ideas to
"giving"
Mrs. Sicmon related to the
Christmas theme. "The
Kings came to visit the baby
in the manger and brought
gifts suitable for a King.
Sharon Robertson brought
their son Timothy for us to
sec. He is a beautiful boy.

made cookies brought by the
Bethel Bible ladies was en-
joyed.

in First Church. 1 was
christened there.
My grandfather. Robert
Turnbull no doubt was an
original founder of that
church. For these reasons 1
wanted to attend the service.
Don and Jean and Marilyn
made it possible when they
took me. 1 also sang in the
choir from age 13 until 1919
when 1 left town, I was a
continuing Presbyterian until
Jim and Florence Stewart
took over the organ and choir
leadership of Northside
Church.

Dr. Larkin was minister at
that time and his twin daugh-
ters Beatrice and Marion
were among the 52 who
joined the church.
Having heard, that some
handicapped people were
' attending the morning ser-
vice. the powers that be
arranged that some strong
nlcn be on hand to lift the
handicapped up the steps
which was very thoughtful of
them. It was good to hear Dr.
Stewart. a dynamic speaker ,
who has served in several
places including Ottawa and
St. Andrew's, Toronto. from
which he retired a few years
ago.
It was truly a Stewart day at
First Church as other mem-
bers of the family were taking
part. Mr. and Mrs. James
Stewart and Dave Stewart
contributed to the music. A

Stewart reunion was held
after church when other
members of the family joined
in.
Grandfather, Robert Turn-
bull had three girls, and one
boy George, my father, who
also had three girls and one
boy Arnold, who also -had
gids, born in England. He
had no boys to carry on our
branch of the family. How-
ever. on reviewing the names
in the telephone directory
there are many with the
Turnbull name who come
from the same source. My
grandmother was Janet Rus-
sell.

A brief history of how First
Church began was reviewed.
At one time a book was
written by historian James R.
Scott, mentioned names of
early pioneers who felt the
need of a church. My grand-
father's name was mentioned
as one of these early pio-
neers.

Twelve -year-old Lynn Hutt of RR2 Staffa was awarded
seven trophies in Burlington Saturday night at the Ontario
Quarter Horse Area 2 Promotional Club banquet. She won
every event offered in her age group at shows this season.
Other area winners were Kathy and Dan Patterson of
Bornholm, Susan Pullman of Seaforth, Lisa Watt of Blyth
and Murray Smith off Dublin who was the high point
amateur. Anne Vander Velden, formerly of Seaforth was
also an award winner.
Seaforth and area people watched with pride as the SDHS
Girls Trumpet 'Band marched in the Grey Cup parade in
Toronto Saturday. The band will be in Seaforth's Santa
Claus parade this Saturday and will escort Santa to Brussels
next Saturday.

Bethel Bible has
memory contest
The Bible School memory
contest at Bethel Bible
Church saw 23 students
memorize the names of the
books of the Bible, Psalms
1,23, 100,`' the Ten Com-
mandments and Romans
chapter 8. The winner in the
youth department will be
going to Operation Snow-
flake. a youth retreat.
The Evangelism Explosion
course held its last training
session two weeks ago. In the
four-month course members
learned how to share their
personal faith in Jesus
Christ, basics of the Gospel
and how to share it effective-
ly with others,
The Bethel ladies group
met at the home of Mrs,
Sharon Robertson on Nov-
ember 22. They had a recipe
night where favorite recipes
were shared. The ladies have
been involved in providing
layettes to those in need and
are making up three more.
The Sunday evening
sermon dealt with Psalm 12.
the title of the message was
"God Never Fails."
