Madill Secondary School. Mr, Wilson has been teaching for I1 years. He is teaching English 150, 250 and 340 at our school. He finds SDHS small. informal and very sociable compared to other schools he has taught at. When asked to comment on his students, Mr. Wilson would say only that there is potential but they have a lot of work to do. When I asked him whether or not he though students • benefit by going to school until 3:30, he said they might be able to learn more in the extra time. However, stud- ents cannot he forged into learning. They have to be willing to learn. Mr. Wilson's comments on the staff are that they are "an interesting group." He says that although he hasn't really had a chance to get to know them. thcv arc very triendly and helpful. When asked whether hr agrees with the decision to do away with garade 13 he said that as far as cities go it doesn't matter. In rural areas, however. it is essential hccause it gives students a chance to mature a little more and get extra education before leaving • home. Mr. Wilson is not involved in any clubs or sports in the school this scar. Outside of school. he is actively involr•d in Big - Brothers. ,Junior Achievers and a Dungeon' and Dragons club. all in London. Mr. Wilson commutes to school each day from London. He finds the drne gives him time to get some work done and also time to think. He enjoys teaching in areas away from where he lives because it gives him a chance to mem new people. If he wasn. 't teaching. Mr. Wilson says he would by in some form of business, ay - be record stores His dream would he tri promote - concerts. which he has done in the past and ejoyed very much, He would miss teach• ing a great deal and it is doubtful he would give it up. 1 would like to extend my thanks to Mr. Wilson for his co-operation in answering the questions he was asked. by Mary Brown. Teacher's Enemyin SDHS Dear Teacher's Enemy: You are sure he's picking on you and not only trying to get you to improve your marks? Different teachers have different ways to get their students to improve. Your teacher probably doesn't realize what a pain.. he is and ,if, you talk to him, the two of you might be able to reach a compromise. My mother is a hypo- chondriac and it's getting to be a real pain. Everytime anyone asks her how she is, she gives a really Iniad ("roan CK SALE and then sighs, "Oh, I'm alright." Then she laun .hces into a discussion of every- thing that ever bothered her. This is really embarassine.
